for new reviewers: what do you think about having a mentor? now that the mentor program will be reestablished, you request someone to mentor you?

How exactly does that work ? Does one pm someone or is there a list of mentors to pick from to make a request ?

I was mentored in the past before they took away the mentor program and I loved it. While I was a decent reviewer before that, having a mentor did help me to refine my skills, plus it was a lot of fun to get direct feedback about my reviews from someone who was doing it because they wanted to help me and not because they just wanted to get the points for editing my review.
If I can manage to stay active on this site, I would love to be a mentor, haha.

I'm not new and I still want a mentor! I think it would be a fun chance to bond with a reviewer while improving my own reviews.

I'd love to have someone experienced show me the ropes. It'd be nice to meet an established member who could screen my reviews to let me know if they're terrible, before I post.

Is it possible for a long-time member who has been bumped to Advanced Reviewer to go back through the mentor program as a student?
I ask because what if someone has been away from it for a while and seems to have lost their ability to really write a good, strong review?
Also is it possible for ARs to still be able to submit their reviews for a quick edit? Because I know I don't always catch all of my own errors in my read-throughs.

as long as the rules aren't changing, yes, an advanced reviewer can sign up w/ any mentor. you can't have more than one mentor at a time, though.

I don't know about quick-edits. my suggestion is to ask a well established reviewer if they would be willing to help you.

You can go through the mentor program again, however you will not be able to request a free assignment through the mentor program. Advanced reviewers will need to review something they already own or consider doing a buy-out assignment for the mentor program.

I've been pushing to make all reviews go through an editor, but that hasn't happened yet. Running your review through a word processing software is a good way to catch most of the errors we're inclined to make. If you don't have MS Word, you can download Open Office for free.

I've been keeping an eye on the mentor tab so I know when a mentor is available. I have been curious-- is the mentoring mainly to catch minor edits, such as grammatical mistakes, or for revising content/style?

I suppose it could vary depending on the mentor, but didn't know if it's more of one or the other.

my mentor helped me w/ everything in writing a review as well as how to navigate the site & understand different things. it does depend on the individual mentor you have, though. if you have a specific need, just ask your mentor. hopefully you'll find one that's a good match for you.

I think of the Mentor Program as a way to welcome those new to the site, help them get the hang of review writing, and be there if they have questions finding their way around. Mentors will help you with all things Eden.

That makes a lot of sense. While free assignments are fun, I think I'm a little too "grown up" for that now on the site.

I'm happy to hear that I can go through the mentor program again, though, because I believe I'm a bit rusty on my skills for reviewing on this site.

just to let everyone know, the best mentor, js250, is back. she was my mentor & I learned so much from her. I contribute the successful reception of my reviews by the community to her.

NO ! Don't need anyone telling me what to say or do when....... if I can play with it, I should be able to talk about it. Plus there's plenty of good reviews to pattern oneself after.

But, when someone is just starting out to explore sex toys and own sexuality, it can be a bit complicated to "express all feelings" Here's where mentors come in.
