Lingerie Question on writing a review...

Contributor: PropertyOfPotter PropertyOfPotter
If you purchased a piece of lingerie that should have been in your size but didn't fit, do you write a review on it and then return it, or do you just return it? I received a couple pieces and wasn't sure if I should just return them or write a review on it first or if that would be 'wrong' somehow. Thanks!

I would take measurements of the item that didn't fit, and write a brief review on it as the wrong size (keeping it as a draft). Then exchange for the correct size and see if it is still ill-fitting. If so, then finish the review accordingly.

I can't get a larger size...so that wouldn't be possible.

They don't like us writing reviews on items that don't fit.

Check out digit88's reply on this older thread, and then the "AskEden" reply: link

Submit a support ticket. Since you can't get a different size, they'll probably cancel the assignment and send you something else instead.

What I've done in the past is leave a comment on the Product Page like: be careful, this product runs small by 1 or 2 sizes... or whatever. Then get a new assignment.

The items weren't assignments, I just bought them and they didn't work out.

Aha! Well, I'd just return them then and get a refund. I wouldn't review it. You could still make a note on the Product Info page that the sizing is a bit off though.

Even if they weren't assignments they still prefer you not to do a review on an item that didn't fit. I had this problem and I was told I was NOT to write the review on it one was an assignment one was not.

This is from the review program page

Because of the sheer numbers of products on the market, a dud is bound to come up every now and then. As a matter of policy EdenFantasys does not host reviews on defective products. If you received a product that broke, please contact EdenFantasys customer service (if you bought the product on EdenFantasys) or the manufacturer to see if a replacement can be sent.

Did you get the right measurements? I know some companies are usually off so you have to play around with them. I wouldn't write the review honestly if you are going to return it as well. Just my opinion but questions like this should be directed to JR (: He would know the best answer since he is the one over reviews.

Interesting responses! I was never aware that we aren't supposed to do reviews on items that don't fit us? Many of the lingerie items I have purchased have ran either too big or too small for me. I still write the review.

If a person purchases a OSFM and it should fit them but doesn't (or whatever size), I want to read a review knowing this.

As far as that quote goes, that is talking about toys that do not work.

I think leaving a brief review to let others know would benefit others but doing a full blown review i'm sure eden would not like to see. as far as "points" wise it's not the same obviously but if you are returning it it's probably not fair to do both a full blown review and return the item especially since others say eden prefers you not do reviews on products that don't fit you, however i think the fact that an item runs a little small or big is a fair piece of information for others to want to know. i know some clothing sites have little things that show based on peoples reviews on how things fit. now based on the fact that this is majority a toys site i wouldn't expect them to have that but the people that take the time to read peoples reviews, even the little short ones at the bottom i think would be helpful

If I had purchased lingerie that did not fit even though I did the measurements correctly AND there was not a larger side available, I still feel it is possible to write a fair review. You can still write about how the material feels and the quality of the workmanship in a fair manner. You can still discuss it's features such as garters, the cut/shape, there is still plenty to write about fairly. Most importantly, you can still write the measurements of the size you received. When I read reviews for lingerie one of the first things I look for is how accurate is the sizing of the product. I want to know which size I am going to pick. Depending on the product I can be a medium or a large and I want to know if it runs big, small, or just right. All-in-all, I think it is possible to give a fair review despite the product not fitting.

This is just my opinion, I would still see if you can find the policy on this matter.

I'm not sure why it wouldn't be fair to do a review AND return the item..? I've done several reviews on items that I later returned. I don't write my reviews for the points -- I write them because I enjoy writing them, and I feel like reviews help buyers make informed choices.

Personally, I don't bother skimming through the comments at the bottom of each product page most of the time. There can be dozens (or more) of pages of comments, and most of them just read things like: "Like this!" (and yes, I'm guilty of leaving those comments, too).. So, why would I bother spending my time going through all of those pages?

If there's reviews, that's different, I'll read any reviews on a product before I buy it, and I'd hope to see one that says if the item is true to size, too small, or too large. If we're only going to read reviews from users who got a perfect fit, chances are we'd see nothing but glowing reviews --- but what about all of those users who didn't get a perfect fit? I want to know about those ones!
