PSA: Measure your toy before you put its size in a review!!

Contributor: Genderfree Genderfree
The Royal Ripple says on its page that it is 2 1/2 inches in diameter. Looking at the scaled image, you know it's not correct, because the Sasha Signature Plug is 2 3/4 inches and looks MUCH larger. I own the Royal Ripple and I know that it is only 2 inches at the most. In fact, I found the review that this had originated from, where the person said that the diameter of the BASE was 2 1/2 inches (which is still a little weird).

So, the point of this post is that the product page is not always correct about size. I know that your mentors/extended template always tell you to include the measurement of the toy, but if you don't bother to take out a tape measurer and measure it, please don't copy and paste what is on the product page.

Valid point! I've seen differing measurements far too often to NOT measure my toys!!

Yes...and no.

First, copying info from product pages is plagiarism.

Second, there are toys where if you measure at one point it is wider or thinner than it is at the base. The measurement provided on the product information is the measurement provided from the manufacturer and is the measurement of the toy at its widest point and/or base which may or may not be one and the same.

Still, yes if you are going to speak on measurements you should actually measure the toy. With an accurate sewing tape measure. Not a ruler, not yardsticks, or piece of string or metal tape measure. Those will almost always provide inaccuracies.

yes, I have had alot of toys not live up to the sizing on the product page. I always point it out. I just wish the product pages were correct in the info listed on them.

Yes, thank you. I recently bought the Stronic Eins and was under the impression it was a lot bigger than it turned out to be based on reviews and the product page. It's really not huge at all.

I see you linked to the bounty list for copy and pasted product page info. This makes me happy. I've seen quite a few reviews with copy and pasted measurements and wasn't entirely sure if I should report them or not... so I didn't. Now I know to. Thanks for that!
