I would love to see the mentor program back! I think it is still a useful tool, even if there are less users and less activities to be had here. One of my favorite things about this place was the mentor program and the relationships I have built from it! I think it also contributes to more social interaction.

But, I'd love to mentor again!

I was in the student program only very briefly before it was shut down - and then found a wonderful informal mentor in Wicked Wahine, who helped me perfect my reviews!! I absolutely loved getting the help, and still would happily welcome the advice from more experienced reviewers. I would also love to give back to the community, and mentor others! (Too many bad reviews out there, and it's nice to help others not only write new reviews - but learn more about the toys themselves, especially when it comes to materials, cleaning, and care - something I still struggle with!) I am active on my own blog and social media, but would happily dedicate a ton of time to this!

I agree. The quality of reviews suffers when there is no avenue for people to learn what Eden is looking for. Right now, if you see a review that is all "it felt amazing" with no "this is how it operates" as well, it's tough to not have a program to direct them to.

I am unsure about offering to be a mentor because I have seen the way things were before and I can't compete with the high standard so many of those mentors set. But if anyone asks, I try to help.

I miss the mentor program. I learned a lot as a student. There are a number of new reviewers that could really benefit from the program. I know that looking back at my reviews before the mentor program as opposed to after there is a huge difference.

I second this! I started out writing reviews for a lot of little cheapie toys I had - now with reviews, its cool to see my collection grow!

It was thought that it would be more fair to people who didn't want to be mentored. Personally I've always thought that a program should have some hoops to jump through to be fair...I mean you are getting free stuffs in return for letting the rest of us know if it's worth paying for and you SHOULD have to have had SOME training before I accept you as an authority. With the old program we lost quite a bit of good people just because it was a free for all.

If you don't want to join the mentor program then buy your own stuffs and review them. Have a separate place to apply to be upgraded by staff but not a community wide no holds barred voting process. There SHOULD be some accountability for verified reviews. At least that is my opinion.
