Not upper level reviewers. Any reviewers could post a list of their personal top ten favorites. If I trust the reviewer, I'd be interested in reading their list. If not, well so what- I wouldn't care about their list. Anybody can post a list, therefore more reviews are read from random directions. "Banna" for instance might be an avid reader of reviews. As such, it might become a personal hobby to maintain an ongoing list of the favorite ten reviews that he/she has read recently.

"Banna" doesn't influence his/her ratings in any way by doing so except to the point that people read his/her own reviews and comment. Hmmm. Self promotion. "Banna" is no different from "Fruitcake", "Oddball" or "Crazy boss" except that his list is outstanding. He/she consistently finds the funniest and most informative reviews. (How nobody knows...)

If Eden picks ten reviews "a" .."j", they are promoting "a" to "j". Encouraging other reviewers to go the review, read, leave comments, and rank. That changes both the popularity and the activity of reviewer "a".. "j."

A different scenario. Eden picks ten reviews by some very popular reviewers. People read the reviews and feel that there recent review is at least as good or better. Harsh feelings... why weren't they picked? (BTW- if the list is generated by reviewers nobody can really complain...) After all... This is the MONTH's best reviews. We all know that Eden is full of wonderful people, but there has already been discussion of people leaving comments under different ID, negative feelings, bad reviews in general, and self voting. There is the potential that your rating could be driven down.

Randomness. Bias on the part of Eden with the potential to influence ranking, and then saying that rank actually matters on other events- coupons, toy selection, etc.

It's another example of how your own actions or the quality of your writing are not completely the **only factor** determining your rank. Your popularity is going to be influenced because Eden sent a bunch of readers your way. Conversely, Eden did not send a bunch of readers to read everyone else's review.
(Yes, the quality of your review matters- it's just not the only thing.)

Someone missed that I don't care about *MY* rank, but the entire process.
