as an editor (speaking for myself only) i can and do eliminate fake reviews. as for "crappy" reviews, all i can do for those is work to make them grammatically correct and at least coherently readable. and maybe suggest the mentor program.

Yep--it's our job as review readers to vote appropriately regarding usefulness.

Very interesting!

Please give us all a pre-announcement before you eliminate all points by contributors making posts on Threads in the Community Forum, except for Reviews of course!!

Well, where should I start?

Here is just a brief list of links that were started and has been concerning to lot of EF contributors along with their posted comments.

#Announcement - Goodbye Everyone!!! (Gary has left the building) by Gary This thread has a lot of interest posts; a must read!!

In my opinion, the announcement which was started several months ago regarding the Point Program was received with mixed feelings. Again, in my opinion, I personally think the owner(s) of Eden Fantasys want to "eliminate" all points except for the product Review Program; it is only in their best interest to promote products in order to sell them in this competitive on-line market place. They don't really want or need us as contributors to earn points by our posting comments to each other in the general Community Forum.

ohhhhh.... well...

I read your post as if you were saying that EF were removing points for forum postings and that they should let us know before this happens.

As if it were a done deal.

I get you!!! You were saying that IF EF decides one day down the road to remove the points, let us know first. Gotcha!

Well...yeah. Making money is the objective of all companies.

I understand how important the idea of community here is, but the idea of eden trying to eliminate point farmers and have the community instead consist of those genuinly interested in the community makes sense.

Also, if EF is struggling financially as has been suggested, then doing what needs to be done to prevent shutting down completely is in the best interest of the community overall.

While I'm not quite sure what's going on, I'm sure Fred is doing what he feels necessary for the company.

"While I'm not quite sure what's going on, I'm sure Fred is doing what he feels necessary for the company."

That he is. And we've discussed removing points for forum participation numerous times but did you see how everyone freaked out when we removed points for posting comparison discussions? It was like we shot their dog and then laughed about it...so, really points for forum participation won't go away...

However, I will not lie to you...I am going into a meeting to discuss re-evaluating a few operating procedures when it comes to how reviews are submitted, edited, and published. This move will, hopefully, end up being an opportunity for more people to participate and earn points that really benefit the site instead of giving a way for people to farm the site.

My response to China Woman was in trying to clarifying my concern to her that in early March 2013 it seemed that everyone was excited about the tremendous changes being made to the Points Program by the 'decision makers' at EF! Everyone was excited then; do you remember? But my concern then, as it is now, was that the change everyone was expecting only would favor the Review Writers, NOT the community forum Contributors in general. You have to realize, many contributors DO NOT write Reviews, only participate in the Forum by starting and/or answering Polls or Discussions. When the whole Points Program was conceived in 2010, it was to hopefully involve both the customer and contributors in a symbiotic relationship (a/k/a cross-selling) to SELL product. But in time, abuses were discovered; Point Farming was observed; and in the end, I believe that the whole scheme to-date is to "eliminate" the Points Program in whole or in part (by leaving points available only for the Review Writers). Whether or not my prediction comes true, only time will tell. But I am NOT holding my breath.

As for the mass exitus of truly dedicated and valued Administrators, it has been received by many people, including myself, with concern and a truly heartfelt loss. Whatever the reason(s) (I believe it was solely the owner's business decision), that CHANGE is on its way, one way or another. Stormy is doing her best to help everyone, but we are in a transition period and my opinion is directed solely at the Points Program; that whatever survives in the end will be Review writing only to try SELL products. Period.

I happen to live in an area where there are at least 4 or 5 sex stores (Babeland, Lover's, and Castle Megastore) that offer many product sales from time to time. Eden Fantasys offered several advantages for me to shop (customer service and price) but that the Points Program (together with the Community Forum) was for me the added benefit that convinced me to visit EF first and become a loyal customer. But these changes by EF will, for many, chip away at the loyalty that was built through the points program.

PS. As a business owner, I know that the objective of all companies is to make money! And that's why I pay my employees less than I pay myself!! I own my business, I've committed my own capital in the business, and I am constantly struggling to keep at bay undue regulations, product costs, excessive taxation, and unreasonable union demands (unions who think their workers should be paid more or work less than the company owners). By keeping these costs to a minimum, I can offer my customers better prices and services. Therefore if EF is struggling financially as has been suggested, then doing what needs to be done to prevent shutting down is in the best interest of the company, not necessarily for the community. Our country was founded upon the capitalistic form of enterprise, not a socialistic form of enterprise (were we all share in the fruits of our labor). Therefore, I don't need a lecture on running a business.

I have a question about the Trial Period and when accounts convert to regular. I joined on May 9th, which meant my trial period started then and I started doing the activities listed on the Point Schedule page, which most were "do it once, get points once" and that was fine. However, as of today, I am still listed as being in the trial period, when my 15 days should be up, and looking at the points schedule most activities have changed to earnings of 1 point only once and there are no points option for submitting a review. Can someone on the admin team (Stormy?) help me get this figured out?

I'm also a little bit confused and wondered if one of the admins could help me? I've been posting a review or two each day since I joined the community (I love toys and have quite a few, and wanted to contribute to the EF community). Today I posted another, more than 24 hours since my last and my points don't seem to have changed? Obviously the points are something EF offer as a bonus, and I'm very grateful for that, but I'd love it if someone could help me troubleshoot and work out how to get allocated the points as, as I'm sure people appreciate, writing a detailed review takes a fair investment of time.

Strat by checking your points earned for today and for yesterday--this can be found in your Account Dashboard, on the left side under "EdenPoints Program". It's possible that it wasn't quite 24 hours between your last two and your new one, and it may seem wrong due to differing time zones.

If you see that you earned the 2000 points for your two reviews yesterday, and none yet for today, then something has gone wrong, and hopefully Stormy can help you--she's the only admin right now, to my knowledge.

Just took a look at your profile. At the moment, you're only a basic reviewer, which means that you're not eligible for free assignments yet. You can either review two products that you already own and then request an upgrade, or you can sign up with the mentor program. You'll still need to complete two reviews with a mentor before you can be graduated to an advanced reviewer, but I think that that's probably the best way to go about it.

This just happened to me. Really confused because I got a shipment in of toys this weekend and was ready to review them! I'll continue to write reviews regardless but the points were a nice bonus.

Had the same thing happen to me. I haven't earned points since the 23rd of May so it isn't an issue of hitting the daily limit. I made a support ticket so maybe that will get things settled. Just wanted to let you know you're not the only one.

I think the new point system is great. I mean how it was before was great as well, reason why I joined, plus the review program, but I like how the review points have gone up. I now feel that we are being rewarded great for all the time and effort we put into our great reviews.

I guess I don't understand, I got awarded 2,000 points for my last couple reviews. Now, it's back down to 1,000, why was it ever 2,000? Don't get my wrong, it was wonderful, I just don't understand the fluctuation.

review amnesty week was between the 3-9, giving users double points for reviews. Since the changes were implemented points for reviews are 1000 and will stay this way until further notice.
