Ratings!!!

I was wondering how can some people that just post their first review have a higher rating then someone that has posted several reviews? I know alot of it has to do with votes. But lets say someone has posted their first review and has only gotten 1 vote and has a rating of say like 5.0, then you see a reviewer that has has several reviews and votes but thier rating is like a 4.2? How is that?

If you are talking about Contributor Rank, there are a lot of factors that affect it. Here is how it works.

I understand that. But it puzzles me. Cause I had a friend join eden and with her first review with only one vote and hadn't been on the site tinkering around her rating was at a 5.0. I'm not complaining I'm just wondering. I have been here a little longer then her, wrote more reviews and spents more time on voting and in the forums then she has. But her rating was higher then mine. Like I said I'm not complaining. I just don;t understand how that can happen. Get what I'm trying to say?

I am having the same issues, It seems that people just join and have a higher rank then me and most of my reviews are ranked extremely useful, and I am super active in the forum, voting, commenting, etc. I'm in here every single day, but I'm not complaining, I love this site! Where else can you get free toys right? But I'm wondering why my rank is lower than those who may not be as active or doing as well.

I know what you mean.. I've been trying to become more active in the forums and polls plus adding more comments to reviews (although I find the "nice review!" comments to be tiresome) but no matter what it seems like I'm stuck at 5/10... yet my reviews seem to be well-received. Sigh, oh well.. I would really like to enter the mentor program though!

It looks like the system is very cleverly designed to not only support the amount of activity each person spends writing, responding, and voting on others' reviews but also on the amount and quality of individual reviews as well as the perception of those reviews by others. Also, the number of comments and votes of your reviews by others are also important. Whoever developed and designed this system seems to really have known what they were doing (or they got lucky) - it seems that this entire system helps to promote good marketing practices to not only sell more products but to also implement a system that helps consumers get real feedback.

It does seem a little complicated, but i think that's a good thing. The best approach i've found to bump up your number is to just be as active as possible. Eden is a great site to explore and there are lots of people on it, so just spend some time trying to find all the little nooks and crannies in the site and have fun doing it. Also being vocal about everything seems to help, so have an opinion and make it heard!

I also think that in talking about it, we can help each other. You know, read each other's reviews and such and give feedback.
