Reviews Not Being Published? :-(

Contributor: ShadowKitten ShadowKitten
I don't know whats up but two of my reviews have been waiting on editors to check them for almost 3 days now which is a bit long to have to wait in my opinion...maybe it's time EF hired on more proofreaders? I mean they probably have a good few hundred lined up to do that job after all

but yeah, wondering why something that usually takes no more than a day is taking so long all of the sudden :\

It's unpredictable how many reviews get submitted and when. There are days when there are none waiting to be edited, and there are days like this week where there is a huge influx of reviews. Prior to editor's, reviews could take up to 3 weeks to publish.

Contributor: Alan & Michele Alan & Michele
Each editor is only allowed to edit 3 reviews a day, because most often there aren't many on the pending list. Like Kindred said though, there are times when there is an influx of reviews so it takes a little longer. You had 3 published the 24th, (along with 1 on the 25th, and 1 the 28th, so I'm sure you can see that the turnaround time for publishing isn't bad at all.

As the previous two posters said, there are days where there's nothing for me to edit, and there are days where there's a huge list.

This past week had, if I remember correctly, the second highest number of reviews EVER submitted, so it's unsurprising that we're having a bit of a delay. Patience, please!

I've been patient for going on 4 days now and although I wish I could be more so, the delays are now interfering with my video review time limit (specifically the promotion period for double payment) so while I see countless other reviews get published mine still sits on the back burner driving me crazy; and running out of time to get submitted in so I'm just going to assume due to these delays that all my videos aren't going to be limited at all by when they're uploaded because they'll all have been uploaded a day from each other. It will be a matter of when the lacking number of editors got to them and that is something I have no control over. All I know is I still hope to get the double payments as I have a plethora of goodies I usually could never afford (Read: I'm on welfare, I don't really have cash to be buying stuff anyways so when a promo like this comes along I do want to use it to it's full potential)

like I said in the original post, maybe its time EF hired more editors if the lag is going to get this bad?

I know it's frustrating, but you need to be patient. Editors are only limited in the amount of reviews they can take on a day and EF isn't taking on any new editors as far as I know (I was denied entrance into the program). Most reviews that get published that you are seeing, too, are from people of higher ranks who do not need to go through the editing process.

Publishing of video reviews has nothing to do with written reviews. You can upload video reviews at any time, you do not need to wait for your written review to publish.

Additionally, there is a reason that the rate reviews publishing are controlled. If a flood of reviews are released, your review would get bumped off of the recent review page almost instantly. By controlling the rate, EF ensures that each review has a certain amount of time on the community page.

Wow. Seriously, you need to give us a minute. Your reviews were submitted on 04/28/11, each. That is, according to my calendar, a Thursday. Considering that the people who edit do, on occasion, pretend they have lives, and most of that life happens on the weekend because many of us have day jobs or families that consume our weekdays like a black hole, I don't think it's THAT heinous that you're waiting three weekend days.

I understand that it's a pain in the ass to have to wait, but seriously, we have lives, too. Three days? Not a 'bad lag' in my opinion, especially considering how often we get reviews published with no turnaround.

In any event, if you read the guidelines for the review program (scroll allll the way down.), it clearly states that your review will be published within two weeks--not two hours, minutes, or days.

Again, your patience is appreciated.

@ this actually, the number is 10 according to the Edentasks guidelines

Edited to keep my 'impatience' from getting people frustrated (oh the irony):
I've run into numerous issues on EF and while most of them have been remedied I still am really thinking to myself 'if all these issues keep happening, why are things not being done to prevent them?'.

From the missing/incorrect items in orders to the delays and damaged toys (dead on arrival), to the backlog of 'editing needed' reviews to certain people (not naming names) handing off responsibilities to others like a never ending game of 'I'm sorry I'm going to have to transfer you to someone else/another department'...it all adds up to a cumulative 'why is this not getting fixed' statement.

So I'll ask again, why are these issues not getting fixed?

I may make a lot of frustrated threads about issues I keep having with EF but the only reason I do so is because things do keep happening that have a souring effect on my stay here and they keep piling higher and higher...Should I just lie and say everything is hunky dory and that EF has zero flaws? If that's the case, sorry but I can't lie as its one of the few morals I do keep dear to me.

Editors are now limited to 3 reviews daily. It was changed from 10 and apparently has not been updated on the Edentasks guideline.

And as I said before, posting of your video reviews has nothing to do with written reviews. You can upload videos independent of a written review. There is no reason to wait for a written review to post before uploading your video. (Unless I am misunderstanding what you are saying)

I also explained that there is a reason that the rate reviews are published is controlled. If reviews are published too quickly then they also get bumped off of the community page quickly. This means less exposure for your review. This may be a flaw in your opinion, but it is a conscious decision by EF.

This is useful information to know, although the actual links to the text reviews are needed from what I can tell when submitting video reviews for payment to prove you did the text review and video portion together...or am I mistaken there as well?

Not to poke a balancing vat of acid here but my most recent reviews *have* pretty much instantaneously gotten bumped off the recent review page three times now (with the exception being that one or two of the videos stayed up longer in the recent video section.

Thank you Kindred for your calm and helpful response.

First off, reviews take at least two weeks to get published and there have been times where it's been months where reviews didn't get published and those were assigned.

Everyone here understands what it's like to have to wait, but you need to consider that people who work here have lives and their lives don't revolve around the internet. Yes, some people may need to send your review off to someone else for editing or whatnot. Instead of making thread after thread of your lack of satisfaction, email someone higher up privately to handle it. Everyone here works hard to ensure quality of the community.

We don't want to discourage anyone from joining the community, but if you're that unhappy then why stick around? No one is forcing you to stay here and post threads about your lack of satisfaction. It's not a cult. We haven't forced you to drink the kool-aid.

Have patience and be understanding. How would you feel if someone was constantly badgering you about something they gave to you a day ago and asked if you'd had time to read it and return it after they asked for some constructive feedback? You probably wouldn't like it too much.

Account > Media Library > Upload Video

You can upload the video independently of the written review. Then when your written review publishes, you can upload it to the written review page.

You also can go ahead and upload the video with your written review when it's submitted for editing. It still posts to EdenTube even if your written review has not. I hope that helps.

I do believe double gift cards are going to become a thing of the past if they're causing this much impatience.

EF is, I feel, pretty darned generous with the gift cards on a normal basis. It makes me feel kind of sick inside to see people getting all bent out of shape over the double ones.

Reviews can take two weeks to publish. That's the rules. Period. Considering how many free products are earing contributors more gift cards to get more free products to earn yet more gift cards to buy more free products...

Complaining seems in poor taste.

I don't understand. (Of course I have been up all night playing manic blog hopping/writing). What's the double gift card thing you speak of? There was complaining? Fie! Gimme. And huh?

Psst I just wandered over here to this thread because my wall told me Carrie Ann said double gift cards maybe a thing of the past and I had one of my "the grass is always greener last week" moments.

Was it greener, C.A.? Was it?

They don't have to give ANY gift cards for ANYTHING we do. It seems to me that you're just taking advantage of their generosity. And you know what happens when generosity is taken advantage of? It disappears. So, please, don't ruin it for the rest of us!

I think it's important to remember that 1) you have to be at a 5.5 to go through without being edited and that 2) Mentors, editors, staff... we all have LIVES. Much of which does NOT include EF work. Things like families and SO's and things not related to sex or sex toys at all.

I sincerely apologize if I've soured things for anyone, it was not my intention...I have always been an impatient brat when it comes to things I almost always go without (such as toys which if it was not for the generosity of this site I would have barely any) I shouldn't kick a 'gift horse' in the mouth so to speak... Over the years I have tried and mostly failed to better my patience with others. However that does not excuse my behavior especially when it could have a negative impact on others. I don't expect forgiveness as I don't think I deserve it really but I do want to continue contributing to a site that has already given me so much if you'll still have me. EF is an amazing company that goes out of it's way most of the times to ensure customer satisfaction and their generosity should be appreciated...I guess my greedy side has started to get the better of me with my new found toy collection (this tends to happen with things I've gone most of my life without, like free spending cash, gourmet/fast food and new clothing among a long list of stuff that due to my lack of income I go without every month but again it does not excuse my behavior here)

Again I apologize and would rather this thread be a forgotten memory or better yet deleted but I do realize I also may need to 'bear my disrespects' as it were so understand if it doesn't.

You think you're the only one who is going through a hard time financially? I'm a full time student with no job about to graduate and I've got about 12k in loans that I have to figure out how to pay back. Trust me, dumpling, you're not the only one with money problems and for you to act like you're entitled to being published because you need money for toys just irritates me.

Most of us here are hard working people who make ends meet however we need to. You're not the only one here who has had to go without new clothes or going out to eat. This self entitlement thing you have is something you need to get over. Seriously.

Hey, guys:

ShadowKitten has apologized for his behavior and I think we should respect that. I really don't think it's necessary to stick the knife in further, you know?

@ShadowKitten - I really appreciate you coming back here and expressing your regret. I know it's not always an easy thing to do, but your apology was obviously heartfelt. You're accepting responsibility for your actions and I applaud you for that. Of course you are welcome to stay here! Just take a couple deep breaths when you feel you're becoming impatient and remind yourself that these things take time.

Take care.

It's easy to forget yourself when you are excited and planning the fun you could be having...if only...we've all been through it! Still being big enough to explain why you are behaving in a negative manner takes courage. Thank you ShadowKitten for at least doing that. As an editor I appreciate your concerns but really, no one will ever penalyze you for someone else's actions. Next time you feel a time limit might be approaching through no fault of your own, go to Carrie personally (or Gary) and explain your fears. Both of them are really very kind people and interested in you having the best time here that you can have. I KNOW at the very least they will ease your mind.

Most of all RELAX! I know it is hard to see all the toys being reviewed by some of us but you have to realize that we are working our asses off to get them. I KNOW you want to do the same and you will get the opportunity if you simply get involved as much as you can and be patient. Soon enough you, too, will be sitting with a box of toys overflowing and having to really decide what to order so that you can give them all some love. It will happen regardless of your income level because Eden rewards it's community so much. Heck you never know...it could lead to great things in surprising ways!

Check out our clubs, they are a wonderful way to get involved and meet your fellow reviewers, AND editors. I'm not saying it'll get your reviews published any faster but it will take your mind off the wait. Jump in and have some fun with us...the water is warm and the bubbles will tickle your nose!

I am glad that you have been honest and shown remorse over your speedy judgement of the system.

That being said, it is important to remember that all of us reviewers here in Edenland have to deal with the same issues that you are dealing with. Some of us, who were here before you, did not have the editors system in place, and waited up to a month for our reviews to publish at times. We are all contributing and the adminmachine is doing it's best to ensure that we are working in the fairest system possible.

Something to take into consideration? It sounds like you are posting a plethora of video reviews in a very short period of time, perhaps you should consider that there are many people who would like to do video reviews, and only one (nonadult)review can be posted for each item. I know from doing video reviews myself that sometimes video reviews come up on items that I really wanted to review myself, and I am therefor unable to do them. Now does this mean that I should have been the one who got to do it? NO, but in many cases I would have settled for a smaller giftcard, just because I had a really good idea for the video. While you are busy pumping out reviews as quickly as you can in order to collect DOUBLE gc's, there may be people unable to do the video reviews that they really wanted to do, and would have been perfectly happy to receive less for.

I was thinking the same thing "don't ruin for the rest of us!" lol. I am not trying to be mean. I just think we should be happy with what we do have. I mean, it's not like anyone was being screwed over in this situation. I'd be overly joyed and just beside myself with just one toy a month that's under $30.

Probably after reading around a bit you may be a little less antsy. Just focus on other things and keep busy while you're waiting. Waiting can be part of the fun I usually don't have any trouble with them getting to my reviews. I've never even had to wait more than 3 days so I'm sure they'll get around very quickly to yours too.

It's definitely nothing personal, trust me. In fact I've just checked yours and it's far from boring! There's a huge backlog right now thanks to the Double Points week but I'm sure we'll get caught up before too much longer.
