What is an upgrade and what are the benefits?

Contributor: MamaDivine MamaDivine
I'm sorry if this sounds like a dumb question, but I am still trying to learn all the ins and outs of some of the programs that are being offered on EF. I was kind of holding back until recently (Im finally an advanced reviewer! yay!) Anyways,How do you submit an upgrade request and what exactly does that do for a member? I see it on the points chart and I have seen it several times in the threads under "Upgrades and I still have no idea what it means to be "upgraded" or why its something that folks want to do (what benefits there are to it).

Upgrade is becoming advanced by being voted in by the already advanced reviewers, so, you are already "upgraded". You now get to take advantage of buyout assignments at a 30% discount in exchange for writing a review. You also get one free monthly assignment.

The upgrade is in lieu of graduating a class to become an advanced member. A newbie writes a few reviews and submits them and then has the advanced reviewers vote on weather they should be 'upgraded' to an advanced reviewer or stay a basic reviewer and take classes.

Benefits: You get all the perks of being an advanced reviewer.

Cons: You do not learn effective review writing or site navigation and protocol by having a mentor.

Great answers Zombirella and JS250!

Yes, an upgrade request moves you from a basic to an advanced reviewer so that you can start monthly assignments.

Thank you everyone for your responses! I have already gone through the student/mentoring process, so I guess then I don't need to request an upgrade lol. I was confused because I thought "Well Im already an advanced reviewer, what would I upgrade to from here??? Staff?!" lmao. Thanks again!
