I don't have one personally, but the Plug of Lust (it comes in large and small) is always highly recommended if you're looking for a non-vibrating toy. The Bootie by Fun Factory is also a favorite around here. They're both silicone, which is always a plus when it comes to anal.

I recommend the Tantus Ripple large. The different sections have different sizes so you can use whichever one's comfortable or work your way towards taking the whole thing.

What sort of toy? Beads, probes, dildos, vibes, plugs all have different sensations. I will recommend going for something long-term and bodysafe (silicone, glass, metal, etc.)

This.

For a plug, I recommend the Tristan or the Ryder. For beads, Flexi Felix. For a probe, Tantus Ripple (regular, or large).
