Pleasure Plug 2: It's small, It fits nice (stays in), and it's SILICONE.

The beginner anal kit is great. It is made from silicone, You get three different sizes to try out and it is inexpensive. I would suggest this one to everybody starting out!!

Other! I highly recommend the Tantus Ryder. But if not that, then definitely go with something made of silicone for your first plug.

Mood naughty! I got the medium as a first timer, and it was a good size for me, so the small should definitely work well for a newbie too.

I think the Tristan 1.5 with bullet would be great! Or the Mood, but medium. Personally I like the vibratey plugs!

I have the beginner anal kit. I only liked one plug in it -- the pink one. But I did really like that one. I'm more of a size queen, even in anal, so I don't use it that often as I prefer larger toys.

When we first started anal play we used Rubber and Jelly toys (becuase they are cheap)... and because we didn't know better (we were not on EF yet). Now we only use silicone and glass during our anal play since they are much safer materials.

Not that our experience with the Beginner Anal Kit was "bad", but the toys included in it just didn't really do much for us. Especially if you are looking for your first anal plug, look at the toys that are tapered and have a slim section right before the base of the plug. Those should make insertion relatively easy and they should stay put.
