I'm trying to decide between the Tantus Ryder and the Whipspider Screw. Both have gotten great reviews. I want a plug that I can wear for extended periods. I've heard that the Ryder's base was redone because of feedback. Is this actually so?
Answers to these questions and any other advice is welcome!

The Ryder is a good staple toy to have in your toy box.

Back up a second. Is this your first ever plug? 'Cause if so, both are likely too large. Start with something smaller and work your way up if this is the case.
If you're used to larger sizes, then the Ryder.

ryder for sure

Like Kira mentioned, you may want to go with something smaller if this is to be your first plug. Something like the Ace Plug Small or the Sasha Grey Small. Definitely read up on the diameters and find one that will fit best for you.

I'd get the Ryder.

Ryder was indeed updated in response to customer feedback. The photo above is of the older-style base, which is flatter. The new base is thicker, more rounded, and sort of angles down from the neck of the toy. (Photos at our website, if you're interested.)
FWIW, the Ryder was changed January 2012, and Eden Fantasys has likely sold though all their older-base versions. I'd be willing to bet based on the volume of their business and the length of time involved that the photo above is slightly outdated as compared to the actual product they're carrying. This may be a photo of the older base, but what they are shipping are the updated version.

I wish Eden would update the product photos since Tantus has them available. For something like a butt plug the shape/size of the base is essential information. It's annoying to order one thing and then receive something complete different.

It's also good to heart Tantus listens to customer feedback!

Thank you for your help, everyone! I appreciate the words about size but my other toys are quite a bit larger. I have made the this decision on size after much deliberation. I'll leave this up for another week or so to get more feedback.

the screw looks like fun to me.

Of the two, the Ryder, but they're both too big for a first plug. The Ryder is a really good plug, but it's not the easiest to insert, since it has a blunt tip and it's bigger than you might expect. There's a nice beginner anal set in silicone on EF, I'd recommend that to start. Or the Njoy Pure Plug in medium -- that's smaller and easier to insert than the Ryder.

I'd pick ryder

I would say rider, but I think its a bit too big for first toy if you have no previous anal experience.

The screw (Blue / Lavender)

Those are both pretty big plugs for a beginner, It is disheartening to spend money on a plug that you can't use. I have done it!!

The ryder looks AWESOME.

These are both too large for a beginner! But I prefer the Ryder.

If you are not a newbie i would choose the Ryder, but if this a new thing this plug may be to large for you. I have been using smaller plugs for about 2 years and just got my Ryder it took some effort but I managed to get it in, it is sure filling, after about 1/2 hour it had to come out.

Hands down, the Ryder, no comparison. If you need a little more convincing, there are a ton of glowing EF reviews to browse through. It's super comfortable, just squishy enough, and has the most comfortable base.

I like the ryder

I would go with Ryder. It would be better to start out with, in my opinion.
