When will you pull the trigger on a higher-priced toy?

As customers, what factors make you willing to shell out a little more for your toys? Is it the material (i.e. exotic like steel or wood; or pure silicone over alternatives)? Is it the uniqueness of the toy? Design?

I prefer pure silicone, which often pushes the price up when compared to similar toys of different materials, and have been known to indulge in interesting looking toys, no matter the price.

I'm a sucker for pure silicone made by quality-oriented manufacturers (no seams or defects!). I've really been craving something made out of Vixskin, but I'm waiting till they introduce a nice toy in some color other than fleshtone (I'm a big fan of Tantus' red and black hues). I wish there were a way to encourage Vixen, I'd be willing to drop about $100 for something 6-7" long by 2" wide and in lime green

I have a feeling if any company would do it, it would be Vixen. Man, I love that company. My boyfriend and I have the Mistress and the Leo vibe kits from them. While it's not lime green, the neon blue of the Mistress is really nice.

I also am a sucker for silicone. And glass. Ohhh glass, how I love thee. Although I won't drop $200-300 on some of the hand made glass pieces on here unless it was for a really big anniversary present or something. (I actually have one that I'm looking at for that purpose.) Also, if it's something that I can also use on my boyfriend, I'll be more likely to shell out.

All of the above! I'm generally not willing to shell out serious cash for a toy that's made out of something unsafe. If you're going to put a lot of thought into a design then put the thought into the material too.

If it's something different and beautifully designed (I'm thinking like Zini Roae) I'm willing to give it a shot. Something other than your basic penisy looking toy grabs my eye much more than the traditional stuff. And I'm more willing to give it a shot out of curiosity since I have a better idea what the other toys are like but not so much with a more unique toy.
