I don't know if anyone else has this problem, but. I've had a couple dildos (mostly from Doc Johnson, I believe) where the dildo starts to get blue/purple spots, like bruises. While I love the realism, I can't figure out why this happens or what it means. I generally wash them with warm/hot water and soap…could that be causing discoloration? I just purchased a new, lovely one and I'd love for it to keep its color. Thanks in advance to anyone who comments!

Jelly dildos will sometimes pick up the coloring of those around them if they are touching while stored. What are they made of?

I ran an experiment a few years ago with a jelly rabbit vibrator from Pure Romance (which I think was made my Cal Exotics) in which I stored it in a plastic ziplock baggie and also left it near a sharpie.
I believe the blog post of it is long gone, however not only did it start to turn colors from the baggie, but also just from touching the blue cap of the sharpie. Plus, the plastic of the baggie started to eat away at the jelly material.
Make sure you aren't storing it in a plastic bag or with other jelly or silicone toys.

ABS plastic, metal, glass, - fine with anything, though obviously glass should be padded to protect against scratches, and metal's heavy enough to do physical damage in some cases.
Pure silicone - can touch pure silicone. There may be an exception with VixSkin toys due to the way they're made, but I'm not 100% certain on that, and you're supposed to keep them in their tubes anyway since they supposedly indent easily.
All the rest - best stored singly.

I recently had a dildo of mine come into contact with a sharpie marker after being haphazardly tossed into a dresser drawer together. I tried everything to wash it off but sadly there is a black (although now somewhat faded) splotch that looks like the poor thing was abused. lol

Thanks I was almost afraid I'd have to throw away big Jon but recently I've been reckless and stash him after quickies and a wash usually keep him in ma case I broke of the suction cup last year but he's still good and the replacement twice his size
