Firm vs Soft insertable toys

Hard toys, always.

I'm kind of in between! I like softer toys so I don't bruise my cervix but I definitely like the firmness of a harder toy.

Depends on my mood! I have two dildos, one of them being the LELO Ella, which is incredibly firm silicone. I know I've felt bruised after using it. The other is softer silicone. Some days I want hard, some days I want the soft.

I prefer hard toys, definitely.

I generally prefer soft depending on the size.

If playing with my partner, I prefer softer things since he can be heavy handed and might damage me (by accident) if he had a hard toy.

I love hard toys, but your right it can hurt if you get to crazy which is why sometimes softer is better.

Firstly, it's important to realize that there are different densities of silicone toy. Some of the softer models (SuperSoft and the like) can be difficult to insert, but many silicone toys are stiff enough to insert even anally with few problems. Even the mid-weight toys may only need a bit of extra guidance when small.

But that leaves the main question - why hard toys? The only hard toys I've used have been glass and metal, and they offer a couple of unique advantages.

The unyielding material can be used to direct pinpoint pressure almost anywhere you want it, since there's no spring effect. It's also a very different feeling when you "clench" down on a hard toy than a soft toy.

Secondly, glass and metal are incredibly slick when lubed. Silicone is great, and if I could only have one material it would definitely be silicone, but there's always a little drag with silicone, whereas with glass or metal there's almost none.

Third, glass and metal offer a lot of thermal mass, and can feel great warmed up or even cooled off. Silicone holds some heat, but not nearly as much.

I find it more difficult to use hard toys on a partner since every move is so much more significant.

Glass and steel are my favorite not only because of the hardness but also the weight. You can't get that same feeling with hard plastic.

I enjoy both. Really the hardness of a toy and where I use depends on how big it is.

I like something in the middle. I have a toy that is too hard and that can hurt but a toy too soft is like using a limp dick.
