there are lots of cheap versions of glass dildos here, you could try out a few cheaper ones until you find out if you like them or not, then go with a more expensive one. My wife has a few that she loves. They are smooth, easy to insert, no rough texture to cause her any type of discomfort the next day.

I had experience with toys long before getting a glass toy. I only have one personally, but used others and I really love glass. I'm sure you've already done your research and you know about the safety and temperature play. When it comes to buying your first, I would say that cheaper shouldn't be that much different. It seems to me that the more expensive ones are just fancy colors or designs. That's totally fine and I'm sure it's worth every penny. I would try a cheaper one initially in case you decide you don't like glass. I would also maybe look for something dual-ended, so you are sort of getting two toys in one. If one end doesn't work out, maybe the other will. Good luck!
