Goldfrau Classic, "Miss Pink" decal...

I've emailed Goldfrau as well, but figured I'd also ask here.

After months of resisting temptation, I finally gave in and bought myself a Goldfrau, settling on a Miss Pink classic size.

I'm impressed with it, but there are a couple things which surprise me. Firstly, the pattern appears to be a decal (or sticker) which has been lacquered over, as I can see a seam in the light outlining the patterned area perfectly. Also, my pattern is missing a rather sizable 'V' shaped chunk of the pattern, presumably where the ends of the decal do not meet.

Is this normal?

Also, the ball handle of the Goldfrau is a bit stained. I just tried to wash it off with toy cleaner, and it didn't come off. I haven't tried soap and water yet, but I know the handle is textured and may just be prone to deep, difficult dirt....

If you're paying over 200 for a toy.. you'd think they could at least get the decal right. I can't imagine that would be normal, though I do not own one.
Ansley has wrote a review on one I believe. Maybe she could provide some insight..

That does seem odd for such a high quality (or expensive enough to suggest that) toy. Essin' Em also has experience with these, maybe she'll be around to see this post... I would at least contact the manufacturer about those concerns. I'm sure they'd replace it.

Beautiful Dreamer - Yeah, that's why i was so confused. I know someone out there has a Violet in classic, that must be Ansley. Hopefully she or someone else will shed some light on the matter.

Cock Wrangler - I've already emailed Goldfrau, I just figured I'd also ask here. I think Essin' Em has a black Goldfrau, so she's got tinted cermaic, versus ceramic with a pattern (and possible decal) on it... but she can probably help me with the ball handle. The handle is covered in a fine matte silicone, which attracts dirt very very easily, but mine seems to actually be stained and I can't get it out -- and right out of the bag, too.

I wonder if they'll say "all handmade products are different"?

I even went back and reread the product description, and the wording is a bit dicey, imho. I read it one way, but it didn't occur to me until the dildo arrived that it may be taken another:

........"One of the most beautiful touches is the design: pink art deco scrollwork wraps around most of the shaft, fading elegantly towards the rounded tip."

My original interpretation of this text is that, since the pattern fades at the tip, it does not cover the entire shaft. Now I'm wondering if the 'v' shaped missing chunk is actually normal and there are no pictures of it. If you look at the product pics, you can just make out the very edge of a cut off area in the pattern....

If this is the case, the description may be reworded so that it's more clear, or a picture should be taken of it.

I choose the Miss Pink because it was pretty, and reminded me of Victorian/Edwardian times. :|

Ugh! I wanted one of these too! I'm not so sure now...... Please keep us informed of how this turns out! I find it expensive enough to call for an entire decal all the way around! I can understand it fading and not covering the top but, sheesh!

Oh, totally, Oggins. :/ Months of lust only to be slightly.... puzzled, upon arrival.

It's in totally usable condition. Buuut, at this price, I imagined something, well, nearly perfect, especially given the simplicity of the design.

I liked the white and black too, but I totally sold myself on the Miss Pink, when I began to think of it as "my victorian dildo", especially after watching a bunch of History of Sex documentaries. It reminds me of my favorite book, and damn if that didn't sell me.

I'm seriously bummed, now. I have one on the way! I pictured delicate paint strokes or something, not a decal.

A lot of the descriptions seem to be wrong on toys.I know this is a little off topic, but I was going to start a thread, but didn't want to seem really bitchy. Examples:
1. My Lacey bullets say right in the description safe for anal play. Me, not knowing any better as I was very new to sex toys, threw a condom over a bullet and popped it into my boyfriend. Thankfully the very educated reviewers on here warned me, and I now know better.
2. My partner has a rubber whip being shipped to him for review, and it says in the description "series of thin leather strands on the end". I'm about 99% positive this is all rubber by viewing the pictures. If there is indeed leather, I'll let you guys know.
Is there a way to correct the descriptions? I'm not sure who writes them, so therefore I don't know who to contact about inaccuracies (like with the Laceys- that could have ended very badly).

Let us know when your Goldfrau arrives, I'm curious if the decal is normal, misapplied, or unusual.

I pictured paint strokes, too. :/ The decal isn't pink, imho, it's more like a faint lavender color.

Hmm...that does seem odd.

Have you heard back from them yet? If not, let me know, and I'll try and shoot the owner and email, and direct her to this thread.

As far as the handle, so far mine has been ok. When it's been dirty, I've just thrown it in the dishwasher (top shelf, no soap). I *think* you can boil them too, but the booklet said something about not letting it get too hot, so I've avoided that (though come to think of it, my dishwasher is probably the same temp, and I've been fine, so you should be ok). Otherwise, try a 10% bleach solution and see how that helps.

I'm so sorry to hear you're so disappointed in it! While I can't speak for the decal, as you're right, I have the all black one, I've been very happy with mine. The woman at Goldfrau seems to be very open to feedback, so I'm glad to hear that you've contacted her.

I'm still just a big confused as to a decal on such a nice product...

Nope, I haven't heard from them yet, but I essentially emailed them on their Saturday, so I'm fine with a 1-3 day wait.

I haven't used my Goldfrau at all, and I've only owned it for about 24 hours, so I haven't gone through all the cleaning methods yet to see if the stains come out of the handle. The handle just looks dingy and there are brown swirls on it, which looks like dirt.

Yeah, I had been really, really looking forward to its arrival. So, to pull it out of the layers of cardboard and bubble wrap, and see that the shaft wasn't covered all in a pattern, has a dirty handle, and wasn't the baby pink I'd seen in photos, and to see a seam around the pattern... I wasn't thrilled. It rather deflated my initial happiness at what I had felt was a glorious indulgence.

Hey, Dame Demi, any news on your Miss Pink yet?

I haven't gotten a reply back from Goldfrau, unfortunately.

Aand, now for an embarrassing 3rd post in a row....

I just took a nail brush and soap to the handle, about 99% of the gunk is gone now. It looks more like what's left is just, simply embedded in the ceramic, which is fine by me.

Essen' Em, is your handle a bit 'flecked' in appearance? -- not wholly ivory colored?

It's true, I've noticed errors in descriptions as well... we have a new project underway to replace the old descriptions and give more accurate info, and also update established descriptions as we're notified of errors. Thanks for mentioning it!

No problem. I'm just glad we escaped uninjured! So we should message an admin if we find a problem? I'm guessing EF gets a ton of messages as turn around seems to be at least a week. Maybe starting a thread and just keeping a list would be helpful? Let us know! Thanks!!

Messaging the admin is probably the best way to keep track of those things, so go ahead and do that. Thanks!

Hm. Goldfrau hasn't emailed me back, yet.

I dunno. I've looked for Goldfrau all over the 'net, before buying it, and ogled all the pictures and read the descriptions. It burns me a little that maybe, this 'problem' is just poor reading comprehension on my part (I pride myself on my reading comprehension). I really hadn't expected such a large chunk of the dildo to simply be blank, and for it to just be a decal, and I certainly hadn't expected a dirty handle right out of the box...

Eeh.

This'll be a hard one to review. :|

-_-; I should try and refrain from posting more than once a day, but I can't seem to help myself. I'm kind of over it, now. It's obviously still a quality dildo. It simply wasn't what I expected. For the record, here's a shabby as heck picture of the back side of the dildo: link

Sorry for the delay, been having health issues keeping me away from the computer. Received mine, and it is also a decal--seems to be applied fine, but I can see the decal lines, which is annoying. The handle isn't stained or anything, but it is slightly off-color since it seems to be unglazed, unlike the rest of the dildo. So, yeah, basically, same problem.

Nah, it's ok. I'm actually home right now *because* of health issues. Way of the world.

I kind of wish I'd bought a plain one, now. I still think it's pretty, and I'm sort of adapting my thinking of it, but still.

I'm glad yours didn't come in as grungy as mine did. Mine looked as if someone who had been recently tilling the earth, placed it in the delicate leather holster and sent it my way. I couldn't get it out with toy cleaner, but as I'm sure you've read, scrubbing at it with a brush and soap got it out just fine. I was worried before, that I had a stained product.

Mine still has *a* stain on it, but it's minor. The rest is just fleck from the cermaic.

I think it was on Essen' Em's blog that I read, the handle is actually covered in silicone for anti-slip? That's why their paperwork says not to use silicone lube. Although, if I remember correctly, they have since decided that silicone lube is okay, if silicone lube's your thing...

Goldfrau emailed me back --

"Hi there from Goldfrau- dont stress- its not a sticker- its a 'food grade' decel which is why it has a special coating on it-so its the same as any other ceramic decel- but even safer. The decel is designed not to meet...its supposed to look like a curtain being drawn back or the slit of a lady's dress...on my website I show that so my customers are aware...when most people know why it was designed like that they think its cool...but if you were expecting something else you might think somethings gone wrong. Let me know if i can help you with anything else, cheers, Judith Glover, Design Director, Goldfrau."

Here's my now-traditional 3rd-post:

My reply:
"... Thank you for clearing that up. I thought I was quite well versed in the product (I'd been lusting for it long enough), but I swear I have not seen a picture of its backside anywhere on the 'net. I've been to goldfrau.net as well, and am also currently there right now and I still can't see a picture of it. Just, two sizes of the Miss Pink side by side to demonstrate a difference between Classic and Large. Have I missed it?

I was quite surprised when it arrived. The website I bought it from also only showed one side, and the product description didn't really tell me that it was missing as well.

link

"One of the most beautiful touches is the design: pink art deco scrollwork wraps around most of the shaft, fading elegantly towards the rounded tip." I'm afraid that I had intepreted this to mean that, because the scrollwork faded towards the tip, it was mostly covered. Not that it was missing a backside. This impression was furthered because there are no other photos on edenfantasys or goodvibes....

link No mention here, either.

I'm not really disgruntled ... The first 1-2 days of ownership, I was a bit baffled since none of the product descriptions I'd encountered really hinted at it, and none of th pictures as well. Now I just want to see if maybe it was totally my fault for missing clearly labled, apparent information, or if maybe this information is slightly less visible than you think...."

Her reply to that:
" ... I know why you cant find it- the image is in the online shop section. Thanks for the feedback...I can see the confusion it might cause- next time i update the website I will put in some extra images and explanation..hope you enjoy the product- will be doing some new stuff next year- just finishing a thesis on sex toys and the sex toy industry which is diverting alot of energy- so when thats done will be back into new product development...so keep and eye out end of next year. Thanks again for the comments, cheers ..."
