I got a free toy with my last order, and it's the first jelly toy I've ever owned. It's sticky, has an awful smell, and is too much of a hassle to clean, so I'm turning it into Christmas decoration (long story), but how long would it have lasted if I tried it out and kept using it?

Generally, jelly toys have a life span of six months to a year. Some people have kept them for longer without the material visibly breaking down, but bacterial buildup make doing so inadvisable.
If a jelly toy feels sticky or greasy, it's leeching chemicals and shouldn't be used, at least not without a condom.

Not sure, but once it shows visible signs of wear, like discoloration or bad odor, it's time for it to go.

Sounds like if it's sticky and smelly then it's already on it's way out. I've never owned one, so I'm not sure how long it would make it... But I wouldn't want to find out if I were you.
