Lone star vs other Vixskin toys

I bought a Lone Star recently, and unlike what I've read in most of the reviews... it was very firm for Vixskin.

It was much firmer than the Bandit or Goodfella I have... almost to the point I wondered if the outer layer was just regular Vixen silicone. The outer layer of Bandit and Goodfella is very soft/pliable, but not even close to the case with Lone Star

Has anyone else noticed a drastic difference in firmness between 2 Vixskin toys?

I should add...

I returned it due to it being so unpleasantly firm. So I'm still left wondering if I'd like Lone Star, but I'm hesitant to order it again and possibly end up with the same scenario.

I have Johnny and Lone Star and Lone Star was just a tiny bit firmer than Johnny. It still feels very realistic and is soft enough for me to use regularly without any problems. Sorry to hear that you returned Lone Star Lone Star is also a bit larger than both of the toys you mentioned so that may also make him feel a little firmer.

The general consensus is that Johnny seems to be a softer toy.

I like the look of Lone Star, and would love to give it a try...

I don't think the size is the only reason Lone Star felt firmer. The material itself just felt hard.

I have the Tantus "Super Soft" Mikey and Downunder Hot Rod, and both are alot softer than the Lone Star... but Bandit is softer than any of them, even having the firmer core.

For example, the head of Bandit is so squishy... but with Lone Star, even the head felt firm.

It may be that I just got unlucky with the one that was sent. At some point, I'll probably order another one... but maybe go for Johnny first.

I appreciate your input, in this as well as the other thread.

It seems strange that there'd be very much variation from cock to cock. The VixSkins aren't handmade, are they?

I wouldn't think there should be that much variation... but I suppose mistakes can happen.

One of the review of Lone Star on the Eden site also comments on it being too firm... Perhaps that individual received one similar to the one I had...

They are handmade so there seems to be some variation from batch to batch. I have Lone Star, Maverick, Outlaw, Randy and Johnny. The first four have the same level of softness. Johnny was super soft. Too much so. But I know someone else who has several vixskin dildos who said that her Maverick was the squishy one. So it does vary.

I would ask customer service if they can check on this before you order so you know you'll be receiving a soft Lone Star. I hear that they'll do this for you.

Tantus dildos seem to vary also. I read several reviews of people saying that the heads of their O2 Revolutions were really soft but the head of mine isn't. Its just a little bit softer than the shaft. But my O2 Rascal has a super soft exterior. So that must be what other people had on their Revolutions.

Thanks Tuesday - your right we all think of this as being mass produced and identical - but you're right, variability is to be expected. Hopefully it's not enough to make the you unusable - but it can happen.

And I guess, if I make a Lone Star purchase, I'll know to ask for one on the firmer side.

Now that I think of it, I do remember a little while ago Tantus tweeted that they'd "forgotten to add the firm core" to a handful of O2 Mikeys, and were selling the supersoft results at a discount.

It's funny, I had assumed that they would pour a firm core, and then anchor that in the larger mold for the supersoft, and pour again, in two stages, which wouldn't result in much variation. But if they could miss the core altogether (maybe while someone new was being trained in?), maybe it really is all done in one stage. Questions, questions.

I'd love to tour Tantus' and/or Vixen's manufacturing plants.

I've also envisioned the molding process to work like that. I would also love to visit the factories. Maybe Eden could have that as an awesome contest! Winner gets to visit manufacturer of his/her choice and see operations and maybe even get to try out some prototypes

I bought one of those "Super Soft" Mikey's. For $19 I couldn't pass it up, and glad I didn't. I really like the O2 without the firm inner core.

I have Lone Star and compared to my Tantus O2 Mark it feels SUPER squishy. However, that's all the dual density silicone I have to compare it to, I have no other Vixen toys. There is definitely a good layer of squish to it (in my opinion) and I've got no complaints, but it could be that my preferences lean towards the firmer side and this would actually be considered too firm for others? Not too sure, really.

And I was considering grabbing one of those soft Mikeys and now I'm kicking myself that I didn't! Bah.

The Lone Star I received was comparable to the O2 Mark I had, if not a little firmer in the outer layer. That should give an idea of how "hard" (no pun ) the Lone Star was.

It really was nothing like the other Vixskin toys I have.

Since you liked the Supersoft only version of Mikey, (I'm still kicking myself for not buying one) you might like the Supersoft only VIP. It's a pretty amazing shape, but many people think the original is too hard.

Prob has to do with composition of the mix.

I have Lone Star and Johnny Vixskin and there is a slight difference. Also my Lone Star has tiny balls of silicone all over the shaft - they are small like bits of sand which I'm rather disgusted in for the price of them. Ya would think for such a high price Vixen would take care to check over their products!

I still find Vixskin rather uncomfortable to use. I can use an 8" circumference Cyberskin and it's fine. But I use Lone Star which is nowhere near that circumference and I'm left sore after using it. I'm even sore the next day. Vixskin is a terrible material for me.

My Vixskin toys also had the little grits on the balls. They come off easily if you pull them off with tweezers.

Ahhh, interesting. These are all over the shaft on mine too. But I figured it wasn't worth posting it back cause it would cost a heap due to the weight of it and I don't want to wait 4 - 6 weeks for it to arrive there and then another 3 weeks to get the new one.

I'll take to him with tweezers....hehehe. Thanks for that.
