The Compact (1" diameter) or Sedeux Flare (1-1/4" diameter) would both be good choices for starter strap-ons. Both are made of silicone, have a base, and have pretty small diameters. The Perk (1-1/2") also looks good but it may be too big for a beginner. This is assuming you've already experimented with anal play and are comfortable with it. If not, I would start with just a finger to be sure you enjoy it.

I would not really recommend the "kit" that comes with both the harness and the dildo. That said, it really does depend on how much you're willing to spend on your equipment. You can go cheap, and the probability is high that, that is exactly what you will get. You may both be disappointed with the results. I'd recommend going with a top rated good quality harness that you can use with whatever dildo/cock you choose.
You should also consider one of the strapless strapons, but still use the harness with it for vigorous use.

I agree with RonLee that the RodeoH line of strapless harnesses would be a great option. You don't need all the leather and straps unless your going to use large heavy toys - or do a lot of anal. My wife loves her RodeoH panty harness - but because we use it for anal - we're going to have to upgrade to something like the Joque.
