what to try next?

Contributor: tiger76 tiger76
Hey all -

Been perusing these boards for a few months to get idea's. My wife and I are fairly new to toys. We have a grand total of 2. The first toy was the lelo liv. Based on what i know of my wife, i correctly assumed this would be a good one and, i was correct. Wife really enjoys the liv.
The second we tried is the Doc Johnson Original. I was on the fence about trying a dildo. She had no trouble with the size but, doesn't enjoy it at all. Could be the high density silicone, texture? I dont know. Would a softer one be better? How bout glass?

I guess what i'm asking: is what to try next without spending alot to discover she just doesn't like it. Part of the reason i went with the Original was price.. doesn't really hurt the pocket book much to just "chuck" the Original. What would be good softer dildo and/or glass dildo to try without breaking the bank. Less then 30? or so is throw away"able" for us. I like the reviews of vixskin, O2, and, glass but, dont want to take that plunge unless im sure she'll like it.

thanks.

Welcome to Eden! Sounds like the best place to start is asking your wife why she doesn't like the dildo you currently have. I have no idea why she doesn't like it, and could not begin to guess - but she'll probably know. Ask her why it doesn't feel good, and what she would change about it to make it feel better.

With that information, we could probably offer some good suggestions. Without that information, it's pretty difficult to know what to recommend, if that makes sense.

That being said, at first it really is about trial and error. I got several toys in the beginning that didn't really work out so well for me, but if you can start analyzing exactly what you dislike about each toy that doesn't work you can start narrowing down what's good for you pretty easily.

You also might check out the members who wrote very positive reviews about the Liv. Visit their profiles and see what other toys they like, and read their reviews on those toys to see why they like them. That could give you a good starting point.

Hope this helps some!

thanks for the reply. Good suggestions and, helped me to reword what i'm really ask'n.

We did talk about why the original did not feel good to her. Her words: "its a hunk of silicone and it feels like a hunk of silicone". So i'm thinking "realistic" feel is what may work for her. Thus i was looking at vixskin and O2. But, would something like Ur3 or cyberskin give the realistic feel without having to "step up" to the plate? How "real" of a feeling would we get from one of the cheaper (yet, not as safe)dildos? Then if she liked that, i wouldn't feel bad splurging on a safer more expensive one. She may be someone that just doesn't like dildos... but, i plan on having fun and finding out.

I guess "glass" is just another question. I know it would not be realistic. We'd get a glass dildo strictly for variety. I will definitely get one but, looking at the selections.... well.. where to start? is the question.

thanks again.

I have only tried the O2 (aside from regular silicone) dildos and I don't think it really feels like skin. It is very squishy and has a lot of drag. I enjoy it, personally.

As far as glass goes, if you are really confused, you should wait until Eden has another "up to 70% off" sale. Usually they have 3-4 glass dildos under $15 and you guys can just pick the one that looks most interesting. Glass is very "hit or miss": some people love no texture, some people love lots of texture, some people like one texture but not another. And remember, it's not very good for thrusting unless you are really "in tune" with what you're doing.

I would recommend going for safer, quality materials, rather than cheaper ones. I -know- it's a strain on the purse strings, but it might be a bigger strain on the purse strings if it turns out your wife has an allergy or develops a yeast infection from porous/unsafe toys.

I really like my glass Blossom G; it doesn't break the bank and it's gorgeous! It's also easy to use and it has two ends, so if one doesn't work you can try the other!

Thanks for the responses and suggestions.

Sounds like it will be best to just jump in with both feet and pocket book, i guess. Understandable, as everyone is different.

I'll probably go with one of the vixskins, purely based on good reviews. Maybe Johnny as the size of the "original" wasn't a problem.

For Glass, i'm guessing amethyst, or bent graduate to start. Glass dildo more for the g-spot play. Those look like good starters.
