Using rechargeable batteries in sex toys

Contributor: Luscious Lily Luscious Lily
I love rechargeable batteries. Just about every battery-operated gizmo I own gets rechargeables, and they do just fine. The only time I've ever had problems with my rechargeable batteries is in sex toys. I automatically reach for the rechargeable batteries when I reach for a toy, but I've noticed that many toys are simply less powerful this way, even with freshly charged batteries.

I want to use only rechargeable batteries in everything, but I just almost wrote a rather unhappy review of a toy because it was so weak... until I put in old fashioned energizers.

Have you had issues with this in the past? And have you been able to find a brand of rechargeable batteries that are consistently as strong as disposable batteries?

Ditto. Eneloops are a step above other rechargeables; I use them in everything, from my vibes to my Wii-motes. They keep their strength so much longer than other rechargeable batteries!

I use the duracell ones and I don't notice any power loss. But now I'm very curious about these Eneloops.

I have duracell rechargables and I had a pair that went bad after 3 years. They didn't work as well.

When I wanted new batteries, I just looked up "best rechargeables" and they were on a lot of lists for their ability to hold a charge and stuff.

I know this thread is really old, but I just wanted to add a different problem with rechargeable batteries I encountered. Some of my Energizer rechargeables (and another brand, can't remember what they were) were too thick to fit inside the battery compartment of my Jimmyjane Little Chroma. The conventional batteries all fit just fine. The Jimmyjane website sells eneloops with this toy, though, so I'll bet they fit. Next time I'm buying new rechargeable batteries, they'll be eneloops.

The earth isn't going to implode because you have a little fun with the Energizer Bunny.

I'm pretty sure that little indulgence isn't the worst 'foot print' you'll leave on this planet; you do drive a car with a huge lead-acid battery and live in a house full of copper wire and plasticizers - and oh ya - the materials and energy it took to make the toy in the first place!

I agree that rechargeable do not work in sex toys - they're not designed that way. Stick with toys that are designed with lithium-ion batteries - they're expensive - but if that's what meets your environmental standards, I guess you'll just have to pony up extra $$s.

I use rechargeable batteries also. They seem to lose their power quickly.
