How do you choose what size corset to buy?

Contributor: theothers1 theothers1
I wouldn't say I'm odd shaped, but being smaller on top makes picking a corset hard. I typically decide by cup size feeling as though I can adjust everything else to fit. It had me wondering how everyone else decided on what size corset or bustier to buy. So what do you buy to accommodate when your body doesn't fall inside the manufacture sizing? Just curious

They say to fit the largest part of you so that is what I do.

Yes, take your measurements, say your hips fit one size but your bust fits another, I would go with the larger. I found out that by going by bust size the corset ended up being too open in the back for me. It fits but I don't like more than 4 inches being open!

Bust size - I'm too big in the cups.

For fashion corsets (those plastic-boned ones) I typically just go by bust size but for real steel-boned corsets I go by waist size because I prefer underbust corsets.

Bust size usually since that's how they are sized

I have bigger boobs so I look at the bust size. But also waist because bigger sizes can be too big for me on the waist. That's why I prefer adjustable backs.

Bust size, my measurements, and compare them to the reviews.

Although I have yet to buy a corset, I've been considering buying one and I always read the reviews to see how they fit. It's nice when the person reviewing is a similar size as me.

For me, it's about the bust. I have small boobs, and if I can't fill out the cups, then it just looks awful.

It's all about trying to get my tiny tiny boobs to fill out, or even look like I'm filling out, a corset.

Depends on the make. Real corsets go by waist. Many of them here are bust. Others have s/m/l sizing

I have always chosen by cup size but the few times I bought corsets, they didn't fit me.

It really depends on the type of corset. The ones here on EF should probably be done by bust size. However there are specific guidelines for measuring for shaping corsets, real corsets with steel boning.
