How do you feel about Push-Up Bra's?

Contributor: Red Vinyl Kitty Red Vinyl Kitty
I used to wear them now and then. I don't really like the feel of them because they are so uncomfortable to me. However, I do like the look.

I know a lot of people see them as false advertising, but I don't. I just think they look hot. I wear pants sometimes that make my ass look awesome. It doesn't have a pad it in or anything, they are just cut really well. When I take the pants off, and my ass goes back to looking flat and lifeless I don't really think of it as false advertising.. Just a fun pair of pants I wear now and then that make me feel better about my lack of a rump.

See that's what bothers me too, I have a second pushup with not as much padding as the one that I referred to in the beginning of the thread. Everytime I wear it someone comments on my breasts and then I feel self conscious like they know that isn't what my breasts always look like. Of course they're right but I don't want them to point it out.

That was very rude of an employee to tell you that even if she didn't know it was a sore spot for you she should still be aware of the customers needs and make an effort to see what sexy bras they would have in your size. But now that I thin about it you are right I've never really seen too many A cup sized bras, then again I haven't looked. Have you tried looking online? Maybe a retailer on the web will have your size available.

I never thought of pushups from the perspective of someone who's had children but several people have commented on this and its definitely making me see them in a new way.

My favorite bra is one that adds two cup sizes. It feels like pillows for my boobs. I own a lot of bras that aren't push up too. Depends on my outfit/mood that day.

My input, I think they can look great on certain women, but nobody should feel obligated to wear one (even if you have smaller cleavage). But if they make you feel/look good go for it!

Seeing as I'm wearing falsies/inserts whenever I'm en femme push-up or not does not make a huge difference, so generally I wear something that will hold in an insert better.

I wear them occasionally. I find non-padded bras more comfortable for every day. I have one of the bras that makes you 2 cup sizes bigger. I think it's fun to wear sometimes, but my boyfriend hates when I wear it. He prefers girls with smaller or average sized breasts so he actually likes my real ones better. My ex loved it though, he just liked looking at cleavage even though he knew it was fake.

I actually wear pushup bras often. The size increase is nice, but not much of a focus for me. It's really the shapely way a pushup bra makes them look that's great. I'm generally pretty unhappy with the girls, so it's nice to wear a low cut top and really like what I see in the mirror!

I'm a 32 A, so the only volume I EVER get is from a push-up bra. I wear them 75% of the time, because I'm fairly flat in the chest otherwise. I go back and forth between how comfortable and accepting I am of my size. When I'm feeling more confident (and don't need the extra padding for an outfit) I'll go with a normal t-shirt bra.

I was pretty flat chested before my daughter was born), now that my pretties grew (Lovely Ds), I use pushups & a nice lowcut every now and then to attract my boyfriend I love giving him something to stare at haha. I have also a C cup pushup that drastically make them pop for those extra special nights

I'll wear push-up bras occasionally, but usually it's just because I like the look of the bra. I used to wear a lot of them, but now it's weird how thick they are. Also, they don't really push up anything with me, by boobs are too small. They just pad...

Pregnancy stretches and even tears the connective tissue that holds the breast firm and in front of the body. After having children, especially if you have fairly heavy breasts like I do (they are not huge, a generous C+ cup, but they are dense and heavy) they tend to hang down lower than they used to. Five pregnancies (three to term, I lost two) did a number on the elastic tissue of my breasts.

I look better when my breasts are on the place in my shirt where one expects to see breasts and so they can form some natural cleavage. I have AWESOME boobs, I love them. But, I don't feel comfortable with them hanging around too low. So, I do wear underwire and push up bras. I mean, they aren't hanging down to my waist (yet) but I am a woman who takes pride in my appearance and I see it as no different than putting on make up, styling my hair or occasionally wearing a waist cincher or corset to pull things together.

Also, as I get older, without support the connective tissue will continue to fail and stretch and break. When I am wearing a good supportive bra, yes, one that also makes me look good, the weight is taken OFF of the connective tissue and the bra takes some of the strain. That way my own breasts will look youthful and nicer for a longer period of time.

I am a woman who wants to still look stunning at 70. So, I'm working on it now.

I'm glad I was able to bring a new perspective your way. I appreciate your comments.

There isn't a 'diaf' option, unfortunately.

I have large breasts.

That means push-up bras have to have a LOT of structure, a lot of support, and thus, a lot of discomfort.

I don't really care either way as they don't make push-ups in my size (currently a DDD, but I need to go be re-fitted...). However, the few I have found that fit...shove everything up into my neckline and were super uncomfortable to try on, let alone wear!

YES! It bugs the hell out of me whenever someone does that. I hate having the feeling like people are just constantly staring at them and making little judgments about the girls. I totally agree, they seriously don't need to point that shit out.

I only wear push up bras occasionally, if I'm going out and I feel like showing off my boobs in a low-cut top. Honestly, the last time I wore one was months and months ago, and it was for my first time out after a bad break-up. I think they're pretty uncomfortable, regular bras work fine for me in general.

Push-up bras are the only kind that make me feel supported and not insanely covered like the other larger sized bras. I had bras that feel like I'm wearing a big harness. I like cleavage.

Because I have my boobs are a 36C, I don't feel the need to have them pushed up anymore than they already are. LOL... I do wear them sometimes when I go out, but I feel like I need to buy a size larger because of the way they fit.

I wear an A cup but I don't feel the need to wear a push-up bra. I do wear one occasionally but it's not as comfortable as my other bras.

I'm 20 with uber perky 32DD/34D's depending on the brand.

I don't mind "push up" if it's like, subtle lifting or whatever. Personally, I avoid padding like the plague. I mean, I like enough to help make it so you can't tell if my nipples are hard, but all the stuff that has thicker padding at the bottom push you up (i suppose that's a true push up) just isn't for me.

Especially the huge ones they have now. There are multiple bras on the market that can put you up several bra sizes. I think that's just wrong. I tried one on with a friend for the hell of it and I looked like a freak.

Plus as some have mentioned, I just don't think it's fair. Like, if you have A cup boobs, and you wear one of those bras that makes you look like a C or even D cup, idfk. I'm sure some girls do that shit on first dates and whatever and personally if I were a guy or whoever were eventually going to undress that girl, I would be pretty pissed. Well maybe not pissed, but I mean come on. That's ridiculous. You should want someone to like you for you. At least with plastic surgery it becomes a part of you and isn't just an illusion that disappears when you take it off. Borderline fraudulent, imho.

I love them when they fit properly. When they don't fit properly I find them painful or at least uncomfortable. Also they don't look as good if they are improperly fitted. But done right, OH MAMA PLEASE!

Same here. If I want cleavage, I wear a push up bra. Especially since I'm starting to sag a bit.

They are fun. I'm an A cup, and pretty perky, so I end up wearing sports bras frequently. They are comfortable, and good for when I'm active. I'm about to go on a bra spree, since my last two real bras just bit the big wookie. I'll probably pick up a push-up or two. I have certain clothes that just need a nicely defined bra.

BTW, the phrase, "bit the big wookie," is an ism of my mother, and it cracks me up every time. She may be getting it wrong, but I like it.

Since you also asked for a man's input, I must admit that I love push-up bras. I also love corsets, thigh high stockings, high heels etc...

Of course I love them, I'm not the one having to deal with the discomfort of wearing them. My wife has bras and corsets that are too uncomfortable or inappropriate for her to wear to work, so she only wears them for our private playtime. Thank you honey! I do love when she dresses for playtime.

From a mans perspective, I'll weigh in on a few points.

First, since you expressed concerns about the faux alteration in your appearance or worrying about false advertisement, I'd say don't worry about it. As others have stated, it's no different then wearing make up or coloring your hair.

Another factor is, how do you want to present yourself. Your wardrobe can impact the way others perceive you. Are you comfortable wearing tight jeans or a short skirt? A push-up bra is no different. If you've got it and choose to flaunt it, men will notice, women will notice. If you're OK with this, I'd say go for it.

The last issue is your comfort, or in this case, your discomfort. I have a nice pair of shoes that are are a bit uncomfortable. They hurt my feet; therefore, I rarely wear them. A bra is no different. If it hurts, it does not fit right. Don't wear it...at least, not for an extended period of time.
