It depends on how sensitive you are and how tight you put them on.

I believe that's the point - exploring the line between pain and pleasure. We stay distinctly on the pleasure side - so we don't do clamps - but we do blindfolds and soft cuffs for fantasy play.

Different types of clamps have varying degrees of intensity. I have clamps of this style - tweezer clamps - and they are not extremely painful. They are adjustable, and you can make them as loose or tight as you want. Of course, the looser they are, the more likely they are to fall off...

I think anything adjustable is a smart choice. You get to choose how far it goes, so if you don't want it to hurt as much, you don't tighten it as much.
