Sexy in the Desert

I'd like to clarify something since I see more than a few negative remarks in the "customer comments" area for DreamGirl's "Sexy in the Desert" costume.

The costume is not based on any religious garment, it's modeled after folkloric dresses worn by middle eastern dancers. The coins on the headdress and bottom of the tunic would be worn only by dancers.

I was just looking at that. I actually have this on my wishlist. I just went through all the comments. I think this in no way has to do with the culture. There have been belly dancing pants and skirts out for a long time. Even with the head piece and the coins. I would definitely wear this because it is from dancing. Not because of religious purposes.

The only costume I did see on here that I would not wear no matter if it was for fantasy play is the nun ones, I just can't get into that. Even though I don't go to church and I am Christian I just can't see myself in one of those outfits.

Would taking a fire fighter uniform and making it a sexy costume offend you? Or a making a ninja turtle, Disney princess, or Roman warrior sexy...it's just a costume. Not offensive to me in the least.

I agree, but all the examples you listed above are occupations. If you look at the comments a lot of people were offended by Sexy in the Desert because they assumed it was modeled on religious garments.

I wrote a review which talks a little more about the origins of the outfit: link

Yes, I'll cop to shameless self-promotion , however I also think a little knowledge is good to share.
