Glycerin is still fairly common in lubes, for some women it does nothing, while others may have bad reactions such as yeast infections. What about you?
Do you have a bad reaction to glycerin in lubes?

Yup. I get yeast infections, soreness and sometimes UTIs. (Urinary Tract Infections.) It isn't worth the pain, expense of treatment and missing out on a week or so of sex to use glycerin. For me, vegetable glycerin isn't much better than animal or regular glycerin. But, I have a lot of allergies and sensitivities, so everyone is different.
"Glycol" is is also the same as glycerin.

I've never had a yeast infection or UTI, and glycerin based lubes don't cause any problems for me.

I get UTIs if I use lube with glycerin, and they are super painful, so I avoid them like the plague! I'm kind of jealous of people who don't have issues with them, because they have so many more lube options.

I haven't noticed anything
09/01/2011
I don't have a problem with them, but I have friends and family who do.

The only lube which affected my vagina is KY Jelly. Something in that one irritates it a lot and has caused yeast infections.

I've had reactions to certain types of lubes and products in general but never because of glycerin.

I consider myself very fortunate I've never had an issue with glycerine in a lube, and I've never had a problem with yeast infections or UTIs.
09/01/2011
haven't had a reaction yet.

What's "glycol"? Did you mean "glycerol" is the same as glycerin? (Because that's true.)

Propylene glycol is a common lube ingredient and is not the same as glycerin.

I get itchyness and occasionally yeast infections from glycerin in lubes. I have to be picky about what I use now.
09/01/2011
i'm too afraid to try them due to yeast infection/uti issues. so i dont know if i have a reaction or not, but i suspect i might.
09/01/2011
I get UTI's when I use products with glycerin. I had about 4 UTI's before my doctor and I figured out what the problem was and I never want to experience that again.
09/01/2011
I never used to have problems with lubes but lately I've noticed that they seem to be causing a bit of mild irritation. I'm planning on trying a lube without glycerin or parabens in it to see if this solves the problem.

have not had any problems with any of the many different lubes we have used through out the years.
09/02/2011
I don't think I do, but I tend to wash up almost right away.

Doesnt bother me, but we only have one bottle that contains Glycerin and my wife hasnt tried it yet. I have a feeling it may not agree with her.

Terrible yeast infections and irritations.

It doesn't matter to ME, but my girlfriend will get a candida infection straight away.
01/01/2012
Glycerin is evil. Every time my vag comes in to contact with it I end up with a yeast infection.
01/03/2012
No, it doesn't bother me at all.
01/03/2012
it doesn't seem to affect me. I get yeast irritation from too much sugar in my diet, but not from lube.
01/30/2012
No, never bothered me at all.

Glycerin is actually one of the few things that hasn't bothered me.
01/30/2012
I've never had a bad reaction to any lube, but I still try to avoid glycerin because it has the potential to increase my risk of a yeast infection, and that's something I'd rather avoid.
01/30/2012
Oh god I hate glycerin and paraben containing lubricant. The first time I used a lubricant (shitty astroglide) it felt like I had poured hot sauce directly into my vagina. I never go near a lube that contains these substances anymore.
02/04/2012
I've never noticed a problem but hearing the horror stories makes me want to switch to glycerin free lube anyway.
02/05/2012
It is near impossible to find a water-based lubricant without glycerine components in it. So I hardly have a choice. Oil-based lubricants come without glycerine in some cases but you have to look carefully and make sure it doesnt contain other harmful stuff.

ya yeast infections are not fun. I want to punch them in the face.
