Silicone lube concern

Contributor: Saraid Saraid
I have sex about twice daily and half of the time we use silicone lube. Recently I have noticed that if I insert my finger into my vagina I sometimes come out with what looks like dried/congealed lube instead of my natural lubrication. Is this okay? Am I using it too much?

I wouldn't worry about it too much. Lube will stay around for a while, and as long as the lube is not adversely affecting you and isn't staying around for absurdly long times (days, when it could conceivably provide an environment for bugs to grow in) it is probably OK.

It should work its way out. If you notice any soreness or serious discharge, definitely get it checked out. You could also switch to using solely water-based for a while to see how that works for you. Silicone lube sticks around and is hard to wash away, so this may be a good solution if you're not liking the residue.

Maybe try a hybrid lube or only using silicone once a day? I've had similar issues with silicone lube so switched to using mostly water based.

maybe you are using too much. Silicone lube need only a little of it.

I wouldn't worry, lube does take some time to get out of your system, but give it a little time and it will.
