Using Silicone Lube With Silicone Toys With Condom

Contributor: David88 David88
So I know you're not supposed to use silicone lubes on silicone toys or at least do a spot test first to see how it reacts. My question is does anybody still use sillicone lubes but use a condom over the toy? How has this worked for you? Have you ever had it break apart? What happend? Thanks.

I don't think it'd be too bad, i mean i guess if the condom breaks, stop and wash right away to prevent the bubbling/reaction. I don't do it though, I'm too paranoid!

Or you could use Tantus silicone toys, many of which seem not to react at all to silicone lube.

The reaction is pretty much instantaneous when it happens.

I've put a few toys at risk and come to the conclusion that permanent damage is unlikely - hasn't happened on Tantus, Fun Factory or Ophoria, anyway - can't recall about Vixen (NOT O2 or VixSkin - these I haven't tried and you should keep them away from silicone lubes!)

I have noticed very difficult clean-ups and some temporary reactions that go away overnight. Subjectively it seems as though silicone lube isn't quite as effective on silicone toys as it is on other things, but I'd take that with a grain of salt, since I was wondering what the lube was doing to my toys at the same time.

Condom-wise - it could work if you were very careful. When I use toys I do notice that the lube tends to work its way all over, so I think that in most instances the lube would work its way around the condom and onto the toy anyway, or at least the base.

Really? I thought it took a little time, like maybe 10 minutes or so.

Regardless, not going to try it, I love my toys too much to have them ruined ya know?

Thanks Scott. Some good points there.

To be 100% honest, I rarely, if ever, watch my lubricant with high quality toys. As long as you use high-quality lubricant with high-quality toys, nothing happens. Tantus themselves have articles on it. My Wet Platinum seems to work find with Tantus toys (We use the Silk series), FunFactory (The Bootie), and VixenCreations (The Mistress). If you are worried, you can always spot-test on the base beforehand.

If you decide to use your silicone lubricant some random toy that claims "100% silicone!!!!!", you might have problems, but for the "big dogs" of silicone, it doesn't seem to cause any issues. Spot-test first to avoid harming your toy though.
