Do you research materials before you buy?

Contributor: jmex83 jmex83
When I first started looking at sex toys and getting into this stuff with my wife, she was so picky about the materials. I had no idea there was so much planning and research that went into choosing a vibrator lol.

So i was wondering how many of you actually do research on a type of material before you buy them? What is your process? Do you have any helpful tips, tricks or sites that you use for material information that I could have? The wife wants me to start including more info in my reviews about the materials. And of course, she wants to see if she can better hers too. Any links would be great! Thanks !

I always check the safety of the material when considering a purchase, then determine if I'm going to buy it based on that. That's the only thing I do.

For toys that I will be using I only check materials if it is something new on the market. For the wife's toys I only buy her silicone, that way we can share.

I don't need to do research anymore - I know what is safe and what is not. I only by silicone, metal or glass. Stone, ceramic & wood are OK - but I haven't bought any.

I did not know about safe materials until joining Eden. Now that I've studied, I know what is safe to use. Yes, it is a big deal what materials you use. It is also a big deal to learn how to clean and care for materials as well as knowing which lubes you can use with materials. Thanks for the education Eden!

Me too, I had no clue that there were safety levels. There was a LOT that I was unaware of until Eden. Thank goodness I found this site! Otherwise I'd still be clueless

if it is a material I have never used or heard of before, then yes I will check it out first.

If I haven't tried a material before, I look at things like how porous it its, how it can be cleaned, and what kind of lubes it can be used with.
