Silicone problems?

Contributor: SerenityRed SerenityRed
I recently bought my first silicon toy, a Tantus, and I love it. But it doesn't stay wet during play and dries out quickly. Does anyone have any recommendations? I would hate to not use it just for such a small problem.

Also, are there varying degrees of stiffness for silicone toys?

Any help would be nice! Thanks!

It depends on the toy, but there are hard silicone toys out there. As far as it not staying wet during play, use a lot of water based lubricant to keep it moist. That's all I can really suggest.

My suggestion would be to try a thicker water based lube. This should help it stay wet longer. Also, yes there are different levels of softness/give for different silicone toys.

Use a good water based lube and keep a spritzer bottle next to your bedside. When your toy starts to dry out even with the lube one quick spritz will normally reactivate the lube.

Hope that helps some...

That's strange. Silicone seems to stay wetter longer for me than a rubber or jelly. And I often wonder which silicone toys are the softer ones.

Thicker might help... I'll have to give that a try. Thank you!

Water -based lube tends to bead up on silicone, so the other possibility is to thoroughly lube the orifice you plan to use the toy in.

I have the same problem with my Johnny Vixskin so I don't use it often. It's never real comfy cause I won't use artifical lube vaginally.
It's the one and only Vixskin I'll own.

I haven't had much trouble with other silicone toys.
But I'd go with what others say with the thicker gel type lube.

I'm going to go with the crowd and recommend using a thicker water-based lube, possibly one that is marketed for anal use. I just use K-Y on my silicone dildos/vibrators and don't have any problems, but that's me.

I like Sliquids Sassy Booty. Works great as a thick vaginal lube.
