I want to experiment with ball gags, but don't really know if I'd like them. I don't want to waste my money on a really good one in case I don't like it, but I don't want to get one that makes me first experience awful. What would you suggest as a first ball gag? Links would be appreciated, but aren't necessary. And what makes your suggestion such a great for a first timer?

My boyfriend and I recently bought a Fetish Fantasy Series Breathable Ball Gag. It's already starting to show a bit of use/strain, but I've found that it's really nice for us to use as beginners. It allows us to breathe and is just barely stretchy enough that if we HAVE to, it can be pushed out to swallow. (Although it's not easy!)
It was only $10 at a local store near me, so it might be something worth checking out. When ours goes, we might look in to a nicer one, but this one is perfect for us!
