Nothing wrong with any of that, I did the long distance thing with my fiancee for many years through college. Maybe just try and engage him in a conversation about things you can do to help. Usually for a ring to really prolong an erection, you need to put it around both the shaft and the balls. We've always just put the ring around the shaft alone.
