Cool Place For Toy Storage??

Contributor: Vnessa Vnessa
I know Eden has a couple of toy boxes but they honestly look a little on the cheap side even though one is in the $100 range. I want something with a lock, that has a good amount of storage, doesn't exactly look like a novelty or kiddie piece and I'm not particular in the cost.

My plans are to keep it in my room and possibly even visible. Anyone have suggestions or something they currently use? Is there a custom toy box maker by chance for naughty adults

How about those leather ottoman trunks? Get a large one and place it at the foot of your bed, but you'd probably have to cover your toys with an old blanket to disguise the trunk as a blanket storage. I've looked up a lot of large, decorative trunks online and none has a real lock on them.

Personally I'm a fan of in plain sight. Then again some of my toys you won' easily recognize unless you own them or are well versed on toys.

Just found some lockable, oversized trunks on Amazon such as this one: link. You might be able to find one that looks better than this one though.

If you are looking for something with a lock you could consider something as simple as a backpack, briefcase or large suit case depending on the size of your collection. These are lockable and would not look out of place in the corner of a closet.

I also like Rossie's suggestion of using a storage trunk. There are many options there. I'd also suggest a large jewelry armoire, a file cabinet or even a dresser can be modified with a cam lock if necessary.

For us the coolest solution is our large mechanics tool chest. It has lots of drawers to keep things neat and organized. It has been totally awesome, but it would look grossly out of place in most rooms.

I like Mr E's suggestion of the jewelry armoire. I would try to have one custom made. It would have to be a hybrid between a free standing clothing armoire and a mechanics tool chest. Lots of drawers, padding inside the roll out and soft close drawers, solid wood with a light stain so it fits with the rest of my furniture and very lockable.

All, very good ideas! I would love to have a piece made. Something that could suit even larger items (like leather pieces) would be fun. Just thinking outside the box and expanding our equipment sometime down the road

If you have a large collection, you might even consider a key lock (rather than combination lock) gun safe. There's a bargain brand called "Stack-On" that very well could fill your need.

I read the question and my mind immediately went to those old army trunks that are lockable and you could put at the end of your bed. A larger one if you go like antiques wold be what they used to call a big wooden trunk for gathering stuff for a future wedding But the lock would have to be custom made.
