Good morning my kinky darlings,
I wish to buy my girl a wand. It's a surprise, so I can't ask her, which is why I'd like to ask for your advice.
Now, I have no experience with wands, sadly, so I can only point out which ones, and ask you for your opinions. So, without further ado: which one is better?

Which one has better battery capacity/use? Which one is louder? More varied/better functions?

Okay, I think I should perhaps apologise. This is my first discussion of this kind, so I wasn't sure how to do these things, and I wasn't sure how to include other toys into the fold, so if you think there's a better choice, then by all means choose other!

I've never tried either on but, I hear nothing but good about the Hitachi magic wand vibrator.

I've heard good things about Hitachi, but wands aren't really my thing in general.

I want to ask you, first, if your girl has any other toys or if this would be her first vibrator. I work in a toy store and we get men coming in all the time wanting to buy the Hitachi, because they've heard it's the best, most powerful, etc. Neither of these would be recommended as beginner's toys.
The truth is that they may be too powerful for many women or they may simply be the wrong kind of stimulation. For example, I can't orgasm from using a wand. Because I prefer pinpoint stimulation, my whole general area vibrating doesn't do much for me.
Contributor Kake here on EF wrote this in a past thread, which is interesting! "The Hitachi's rpms max out at 6000 whereas the least powerful Fairy maxes out at 8000 and the Pocket Fairy, Fairy Baby & Maybe the Fairy Mini & Rechargeable Fairy (don't quote me on the last 2) have 12,500 rpms." RPMs are Revolutions Per Minute. That seems like an accurate reflection of the power behind each of these.
Other than that...It looks like their differences are few and far between. They're both plastic, they're both loud and powerful, they both plug into the wall, so they don't require batteries. There's a fairly negligible $10 price difference. They both vibrate at a variety of speeds, but they lack any special functions or patterns. I think that either one would be a great choice, if your partner is an experienced user of vibrators.

The fairy is very buzzy and high pitched, but it has the ability to choose a more specific vibrational speed.
The hitachi is more thuddy, but you only have two speed choices (OH, GOD, and HELP ME, LORD). I don't like buzzy, so my vote is the hitachi.

We really like the Mystic Wand [] which now comes in a rechargeable model link. I sure wish we had the rechargeable one - but I'm not going to buy a second identical toy.
07/06/2011
I have both of these. I prefer the Magic Wand over the Fairy Wand because once the dial on the Fairy is turned up past the midway point the vibrations are all on the surface and are not rumbly or thuddy anymore (low to mid on the dial are but they are not as powerful as the Hitachi). The Hitachi regardless of the speed is always rumbly, penetrative, and thuddy and nothing close to buzzy.
My husband loves the Magic Wand held just under the head of his penis, while I use my hand on his shaft.

The Harry Potter books get a new level of fun if you replace every instance of "wand" with "wang".

I accidentally voted for the Hitachi when I meant to select "Other." I've heard good things about the Hitachi, but if you're willing to shell out some extra dough, the absolute BEST (in my humble opinion) is the Eroscillator. Seriously, oh my god.
No really. OH. MY. GOD.
Very different sensation to any other vibe I've tried. It's quiet, it lasts forever, and with the different attachments, you can do all kinds of kinky things. Great for solo or for couples.

I just got the Baby fairy wand, don't have the space for something huge laying around.

I have the Hitachi and it's great but I really would like to try others just to find one that works as well as the Hitachi for me but has a smaller head

If she is new to vibrations, any wand would possibly be too powerful.

Oh, she's quite experienced when it comes to vibrators and sex toys in general. She even does reviews here - and while I'm also experienced, I've never used any wand before, which is why I come to annoy you fine people! So, I think she could handle it.

The Mystic is amazing! My most frequently used toy by far! Though, the Pocket Fairy should be here any day now, so we'll see if my Mystic Wand holds its standing with me.

I don't have either of these, but I'll put in a vote for the Mystic Wand. I have the rechargeable version, and love it! I had it for months before having to charge it (It arrived fully charged), and it's just all around fabulous.

Hitachi has a lot of good reviews
07/26/2011
i love my fairy mini! I found it to be more rumbly than other reviews i have read. I like it because its smaller than the hitachi and easier to hold (i dont own the hitachi but i have held one before).

I just got the hitachi and I love it.

Fairy's speed control can get stuck! If you did ever not listen to me telling you to go for the Hitachi being reliable for at least more than a decade then I wish you the best luck with the Fairy to get stuck on the favorite speed of your precious one's!

I have the mystic wand at the moment, but I want to try Hitachi and Couture Wand.

Hitachi...anything else is just a toy.

Hitachi feels like it's more sturdy to me. Might last you longer. Fairies I've got seem to be cheaply built compared to Hitachi.

I don't know about those two and was wondering if I should invest in them since I already own the Miracle massager which I find powerful enough for me and I like it's shape better ( and color ) than the others. When it comes to vibrations that powerful, not sure the difference woudl show much.
02/07/2012
I don't have the fairy wand, but I do have the Hitachi. Hitachi is by far the most powerful crazy thing I've ever tried. This is the king of vibrations! It only has two speeds- High and explosive. Most people wont be able to handle this on it's highest; let alone be able to place it right on your clit. Might have to put a piece or cloth or towel between it and you.
I love it, it's great for pleasure and torture! only down fall is it is on the loud side. Unless you like some noise!

I'd go with the Hitachi

I love my Fairy Mini. It is much cuter than the Hitachi and is very strong. And has multiple settings. Did I mention it's cute?

the hitachi wand!

The hitachi has page after page of great reviews, and it's a personal favorite of mine. Go with it! If she doesn't like it as a sex toy, it still works fabulously as an actual massager.

When it comes to wands i always like to point out that my favorite wands is really more of a gun, the whal 2 speed: link

I only have the Fairy Mini- their second largest wand- but I hate it! However, I also have the Hitachi and adore it. The Fairy may have adjustable speeds, but it will sound like a jet engine shooting through your bedroom and the vibrations move throughout the wand. The Hitachi is loud, but not anywhere near the noise level of the Fairy.
