Sure, sterilizing is the best thing to do. But first clean it with water and soap then boile it.

Totally depends on the material. Boilable materials make that a great way to get them very clean, however I don't feel that boiling glass toys is absolutely necessary all the time. Warm soapy water and a good scrubbing is all that is needed to get them clean and safe.

I use special toy cleaner that is safe to use with the coresponding material.
