Do you feel cutesy sexy toys are demeaning to a woman's sexuality?

Contributor: GONE! GONE!
Some people are really into cute stuff for sex, so I think it's perfectly okay. That said, it would annoy me to death if all toys geared towards women were like that.

No, not at all. They make things to appeal to certain people, many of us girls LIKE the cutesy stuff.

I really only care if toys are high quality! I think it's demeaning to make cheap toys cute because they think women will buy them and ignore the quality. Personally I like cute toys (as long as they don't have faces).

People have different tastes in all aspects of life, so why should sex toys be any different? I have toys in several different styles, cute ones included, and I love them and don't feel it's demeaning to my sexuality at all.

Sorry...I LOVE all my toys. I love the CUTE ones and the more serious one's. Sex itself is SO silly looking if you think about it, you better have a sense of humor. Oh...and serious or not, last time I checked, it was FUN and FUN and CUTE are NOT opposing or demeaning things. I have a little BUNNY "rabbit" vibe, that is CUTE as all get out...and gets ME off just GREAT....so HOP ALONG LITTLE BUNNY. Do I feel childish? Nope...all week long the 55 professionals who depend on ME to be a boss sure don't think so, thus I don't worry about the SHAPE or COLOR of my bedroom toys making me "less a grown woman".

i don't think that the cutesy shit is NECESSARILY demeaning, but the fact that nearly aaaallll of women's toys are flowery cutesy blah shit is stereotyping and therefore bullshit

I actually think that companies are doing a lot better with offering more gender neutral colors, like: blue, red, green, orange, black...

Some of them are cutesy or flowery, and others are very basically shaped and styled and not-at-all stereotyped for women.

I guess it depends... but I'm not into them as a general rule.

Good point, there are also states that have similar laws.

The toys themselves no, that some believe the stereotype that women only want cute things (and that men don't,) yes. but there is nothing wrong with the toys in them of themselves.

While people like what they like, it is also useful to note if there a sex toy trend following general society's proclivity to infantilize women. We are all affected by the culture we live in, and it could affect this as well.

I don't think it's ever been personally insulting to me. I always saw it more of as there being a market for these toys originally and that's why they are produced as opposed to trying to send a particular message to women through their toys.

I'm a feminist, and I really don't see that our society is giving women an infantile generalization. I did a search on EF and found that for the most part, the toys are pretty basic. Some have animals on them, especially rabbit vibes; and some have flowers and jewels and such. However, I tend to find most of the toys on EF to be sleek and sophisticated in appearance.

I think, also, that the sex toy industry is far from demeaning women, in general. Some can/do, yes, but overall they know that women are the major money-spenders in their market and I think they're smart enough to know better. There are bigger fish to fry out there.

I agree and in general, I think that the sex toy industry encourages women to be comfortable with themselves, their bodies and their sexuality and I think that's all to the good, no matter what shape their toys take.

I think toys, even cute ones, are empowering women to love themselves and to be comfortable with themselves, their bodies, their sexuality, and their sex lives. Nothing wrong with cute toys, they do the same things as the more serious ones do.
