Do you usually buy luxury vibrators or regular ones?

Contributor: - Kira - - Kira -
My husband commented the other day that even in sex I have very expensive tastes. I rarely buy vibrators that cost less than $75. Not that I don't ever buy regular stuff, but most of my purchases are higher end toys.

Do you have a preference between luxury or regular vibrators? I notice most polls are between one luxury brand or another so I was wondering if anyone had a preference for the under $50 set.

What do you think attracts you to one over the other?

I am but a poor college student living in a dorm. I need something quiet, small, discreet, and above all - cheap.

I was looking at the higher-end toys earlier today, though. The Mimi looks awesome.

I'm still quite new to this whole toy thing (though you wouldn't know if by looking at the pile I'm building up), so I'm sticking with mostly lower cost vibes and/or sales for now. Once I have a better idea what works the best for me, then I'll consider making more of an investment in a single item.

I'm open to all products - but lately we've been enjoying the higher end products like the Form 2.

Yeah, it's the same for me even though I'm not in college anymore... quiet and cheap. Some of the higher end toys look great but at this point in my life, if the cheaper one still gets the job done then that's where I'll stay. Besides, I'd be afraid that a higher end one wouldn't be all it's cracked up to be and then I'd be super bummed I shelled out so much money for the toy.

I'm willing to use anything. It's just that I have so many toys that I'm leaning towards the higher end items lately.

While I love the luxury toys, I've had a great time with not so pricey toys as well... For instance: I bought JimmyJanes Little Chroma bullet, which was a so-so toy (125.00) I bought RO-120mm bullet (31.99) and liked it much, much better. You can't really put a price on pleasure, but just because it has a high price does not make it a good or better toy. Maybe better materials?

I don't purposely go for "luxury" toys, it just happens that I prefer toys with safer materials, and they usually cost more.

I'm open to anything really as long as it has a strong vibration.

I will say most of our toys in our toybox are higher end luxury items; however, some of our most effective vibrators are $50 or less (the Slimline G was $13 when I bought it and it gets the job done everytime). I love my Mimi, my LELO Mona, and of course my Hitachi, too.

Well, we're still fairly new to toys - so we're more low end ($39 and less). What is amazing me is that the free bullet I got from here is just about the best toy we have (although I love the others and we use them all pretty much). Today I should be receiving the free waterproof one they have been offering for Eden Friends (Look under promotions - I only paid shipping)...and I can hardly wait. It is definitely a different design than what we have.

I'm fortunate in that all vibrators do something for me and we've found one that works great for my G-spot (even if it is jelly).

Most of our collection is mid-range between cheap and luxury. It's hard to justify the price of some of those luxury toys so we usually settle for something similar but a little more reasonable.

My first few toys were cheap and then I went to the high end. I think it has to do a lot with the material because I am afraid of yeast infections and such.

I prefer rechargeable, sterilizable, and rigid toys. That means that for me, I am inevitably purchasing higher-end products.

Since becoming a toy snob, the cheap regular vibes don't really cut it for me. The vibes over $100 are definitely better IMO.

I buy vibes on the cutoff of your range here (SinFive, JoyDivision) because I require sterilizability, but I avoid rechargeable batteries whenever possible. I prefer to recharge my own AA's because when their life is inevitably over, the whole vibe has not become useless.

I tend to need really strong vibration. So I typically purchase massacres which are pretty reasonably priced.

My favorite vibrator is not a luxury one. It costs $24. In fact, I seldom find myself reaching for my $200, rechargeable ones. Not that the quality isn't good, but it's the shape that doesn't quite fit my body right and it's much stiffer and not as comfortable to use.

Luxury vibes are definitely the most eye-catching and appealing to me.

I like toys that have it all (design, features, etc.). Of course there are definitely toys that are right around that cut-off line $40-75 that are pretty fantastic as well, and I have a good handful of under $40 toys that I really like. I think it mostly comes down to cost, and finding toys that will match your body well.

I'm still new to using toys, and just want to find that product that's able to get me off. I don't care if it's a less expensive toy or an expensive toy, if it can get the job done then my search will be complete.

I would say I'm about half and half between luxury vibrators and regular ones. I will say though that the one's I use most frequently are actually the most expensive ones I have, although I do have a couple of really expensive toys that I never touch.

When I'm trying a new type of toy (like I recently have with plugs) I usually try and get a couple of cheap ones to figure out what shape or style I like before I go buying something expensive.

I'm not a picky toy person. I'm more looking for what I want. IF a toy fits what I want I buy it.

Since getting my first luxury toy, I don't think I'll go back to the cheaper ones.

I do like a good luxury toy, but I've also got quite a bit of enjoyment out of "normal" toys as well. I'm not sure if it's quite a 50/50 mix, but I have favourites that fall into both categories.

I picked other because my real preference is for quality toys that work for me. Usually this means the higher priced stuff, but not always. I've been disappointed by the quality of some of the "luxury" toys that others have raved about, and impressed by a few cheaper toys that seem to get over looked. I wonder sometimes if the price tag and the brand name doesn't influence how people view the quality of a toy to some extent.

I tend to buy which ever toys suit my needs. Sometimes it's the cheaper ones and sometimes it's the higher end models. As with every other industry I suspect that as time goes the trickle down effect will occur. Soon you'll be able to buy toys with features typically found on luxury toys at a much lower price point.

For me it totally depends. I have some very low-end toys that I've had for quite a while, and I still love. But I do tend to look more at higher end toys generally speaking. For me, it's less about price and more about quality and whether or not I think it will work for me.

I lean toward luxury materials, to be sure, but the strength/controls/rech argeability are more up to personal preference.
