i don't think giving head is something you can learn how to do it's one of those things that just come to you..

When it "just comes to you", you've learned how to do it. It went from something you didn't know how to do, to something you do know how to do.

It's definitely a skill that will improve with practice. And getting to know your partner. I think this is true about giving head to a man or to a woman.
There is a grain of truth in the idea that it "just comes to you" -- at first. I found I somehow "kinda" knew what to do the first time with a man and also the first time with a woman, well enough to muddle through anyway.
But it would be a shame to stop there, although even the most mediocre bj is still pretty good.
