I would avoid metal ones.

I would invest in a decent leather pair. They are comfortable, look so hot and they don't leave wrist marks like the others.

I would strongly second this suggestion, metal is rough for a first pair.

Metal is only really nice as an intimidation factor. The metal is not needed. Leather or some other material will work just as well.

I agree. For a first pair, avoid metal. Leather would work nicely, or even neoprene cuffs like these would be comfy for a first pair.

metal is fun to look at and carry but wouldn't recommend them for use- its possible to hurt ur wrists and the tendons in your hands

Leather and other softer materials are safer, but if you absolutely must have the look of handcuffs, just get the cheap plastic ones from the toy aisle in your local discount store. Test the key before playing with them, and have bolt cutters handy for an emergency. (Personally, I'd go with leather, it's so much nicer looking as well as safer.)
