I have heard a lot of rumbling about jelly toys being very bad for you, thank goodness i have not had a bad experience. should i try to start shifting my purchases to different materials?

I would. But it is up to you and how comfortable you are using them. You can always throw a condom on them, but I tend to go for the safe toys.

My first couple of toys were made of jelly, I didn't know back then that they weren't all that safe, so now I only buy toys made with safer materials.

But like bh253 said, it is up to what you prefer, and using condoms could make them safer to use.
