Mimi defective... help me with a choice to be made!

Hi there!

I recently bought a MiMi and I have a few problems that I need to figure out before I try to decide whether to return for a replacement or for a refund...

I bought this MiMi from another vendor (who will remain unnamed, because I'm not happy with them-- reminder to only order from Eden). I got it on SUPER sale (which is why I bought from them), and it arrived with a bubble in the silicone skin. As some have mentioned elsewhere in the forums, this sometimes happens when it is warm. In the case of mine, if it is even room temp this bubble happens...when it sits on the windowsill, the bubble goes away. I was thinking about returning it, but this company will make me pay for the return shipping to CANADA, so I figured it worthwhile to take into account a few more considerations before making any moves. Here are my questions:

1) Is this worth paying to return it if there's a likely possibility that this bubble could happen again?
2) I also notice a whirring/rattling on the lowest setting of vibration. Listening to the video reviews, it seems like this may just be standard... but I'd love to hear from those who have it.
3) I hear there's a new MiMi coming out with the pattern button that the Uma has... I would enjoy this feature! Should I just return the one I bought and wait for the new one to come out and order that instead? There is quite a different price between the MiMi I purchased and (likely) the one I would buy with the patterns, so I want to make sure it'd really be worth it. I don't have enough Edenpoints or GCs to buy the new one at an equal price to the MiMi I bought elsewhere...

Sorry, all... I know this is a lot, but if anyone has any advice, I'd really appreciate it!! I'm not into talking about vibrator options with my friends at this point, so the community is my best resource. Thanks in advance!!

My MiMi never has any problems with developing an air bubble. I've used it for an hour straight and it got quite warm but the silicone never bubbled. I have heard others mention that though, and I find it very strange. So it's not something normal that happens with all of them.

I don't notice a whirring or rattling with my MiMi. My Uma has a bit of a rattle to it, but my MiMi doesn't.

I don't think it's worth spending any more money to get the pattern button. The old MiMi still has the patterns, you just have to scroll through the speeds to get to them. To me it makes zero difference whether there's a separate button or not. I guess that might be a benefit for some people though, especially if you were someone who absolutely loved patterns.

No bubbles on mine, but the lowest setting does kinda sound like a rattling. I just assumed it was because the lowest setting was so weak!

I think I would wait for the new version myself.

You could spend the next two weeks or so waiting for the new MiMi and rack up the points as much as you can between now and then :-D Bet you could get at least 1000 or so before it comes out if you're diligent.

I get the bubble when it's warm.

In another thread, I remember someone said their friend discreetly poked the "skin" with a pin - releasing the trapped air/giving it an escape route and fixing the problem. Due to the nature of silicone, this wouldn't be very noticeable.

My MiMi sounds a bit "rattlier" on lower levels, although, interestingly, my Uma does not.

I'm not a patterns person, so they're not an issue to me. You still have to scroll through them all, you just get to pick intensity. But for patterns I want high intensity, anyway - which is what you get, anyway. So it's your call how useful that would be to you.

My MiMi does have the bubble but it doesn't disturb me. I find it to work wonderfully well and there is no rattling sound. I was wondering if it was only the pink ( fushia ) ones having that problem as it was the only color on sale when I bought it.

My MiMi has the same sound on each level and to me it is a slight rattling sound. I have the pink - ordered the black one but was disappointed to have been sent the wrong colour!

I waited ages to get mine cause of so many of them having issues. In my opinion, it's an 'ok' clit vibe, but I don't understand why people rave about it so highly.

My play sessions only last about 6 minutes and I haven't noticed the bubbling effect. I can feel slightly that the skin isn't attached fully to the shell of the toy, but no actual bubbling.

I don't care for a separate patterns button, but then I'm not a big fan of patterns any way.

For me I wouldn't return it right away, but I would get on the phone with an eden associative just so you can explain the problem specifically. They want to make their customers happy, so I'm assuming after that conversation it probably wouldn't happen again.

I'm not 100%, but you might be able to get the manufacturer to help you out somehow.

Thanks everyone for your advice! I'll let you know what I decide to do... in the meantime if anyone else has anymore input, please let me know... your thoughts are so helpful, I can't say it enough!

@JR- I sent Je Joue an email, so we'll see what comes of it. Great idea!

@Chirple- I remember this post... my fear with poking a hole in the silicone is that wouldn't it make it no longer waterproof? I know its a small hole, but the ease of cleaning waterproof silicone just can't be beat!

Hi! There is a new Mimi coming out - I called Eden on Monday to ask about when they'd have it, and they actually told me they expect to be getting it within the next couple of weeks. So...that is an option you have open.

I would definitely return it, and get your money back. And then just save for a new Mimi, honestly. I've been holding out for the new Mimi. I'm close to just caving and getting the older one, but I'd definitely prefer the new one (which I am hoping will not have the bubbling silicone problem, yuck.)

Is this bubbling common in all silicone toys or is this just an oddity of Mimi?

I've had the same problem, I had my Mimi generation one for about six months when it started acting up. I thankfully had bought mine from here and they are working with me. My Mimi started making those weird rattly noises at low speeds and at certain patterns. The vibrations started getting weaker and the charge wouldn't hold as long as it was supposed to. If it was on for too long the silicone would start to bubble as well, also when i charge it the light never stops flashing no matter how long it's charged for. All in all I'm getting a new one and we'll see how that one works out.
