I second idunshire. Have her use it herself first so she can figure out what she likes and then she can help you use it on her or can better manipulate it herself when you use it together.

Thirded on the suggestion of trying it herself. It is REALLY strong. If you want to make the toy a part of your play, I recommend you give her quite a bit of foreplay without the toy (just teasing or whatnot) then let her play with the Hitachi. The Hitachi will probably be too strong to function as the start of foreplay. It's usually best as a middle-to-near-the-end thing.
Also, if you find she really loves it, check out the Liberator Axis Hitachi sex shape. It's a sex shape that allows her to slide the Hitachi in to the shape and it will hold it up so she can grind up against it in doggy-style position and everything without actually holding it. Sadly, EF doesn't sell it, but if she really loves it, I'm sure you could hunt it out.
