I'm a little confused as to what you're asking, to be honest. Your thread's title is about silicone vs. rubber, but your first post is about textures inherent in toys from certain manufacturers.
The blanket answer would be that everybody has their own preferences. Liking one material, texture, or manufacturer over another is completely normal, and doesn't mean you're odd or anything like that.
