You can warm metal or glass with a warm bowl of water or washcloth. It's not going to damage it as long as you don't do something like put it in the microwave. Seriously. Don't do that.

I have only cooled it, It tends to heat up quite nicely from me with my use.

Is it better cold? That will depend on you and your preferences entirely. As for how to heat/cool, someone has already done a nice job of answering that here. However, if you're still a little unsure, once you read reviews on it, I think it'll really clear up any confusion. There are some fantastic reviews on the Pure Wand! Highly recommended reads.

If you want to pretend to have sex with a vampire and use it cold, that's your business. I hate cold glass or metal dildos, though. D:

I've never used it cold, but I run it under hot-ish water before I use it, and it keeps a warm temperature the entire time. It's the best toy I own for that sort of thing.

I highly doubt that most of the people who enjoy the sensation of cold do so because they're "pretending to have sex with a vampire".

It holds temperature pretty well. Obviously it's rather cold pulled right out of the box (or you could chill it more with cold water). And it'll stay cold for a bit. However, when it comes into contact with the body for awhile, it will warm up pretty quickly (and stay warm until you're done playing, obviously).

I have the fun wand and not the pure wand, but the material properties are the same. It feels cool-ish if you haven't warmed it up beforehand but quickly warms to body temperature. Just putting it near the heating vent works, too.

I find mine holds heat really nicely. It is a really great material.

Being made of stainless steel it will handle any temperature you'd be willing to touch to your body and with it's size/weight it should have the mass to hold a temperature for a decent length of time.
