Her Hitachi is very loud but still works well. I think it is like 15rs old. Can anyone that has a recent one tell me if it is excessively loud ? Of course we don't want to buy a replacement if it turns out to be the same.

Magic Wands are always loud. Mine lasted a little over 30 years before it finally stopped working. I bought a new one and the sound it makes is a bit different but it's equally loud. If you look up my video review of it you'll hear both wands.
