Vibrator noise: do you care / do you have a maximum?

Contributor: Ms. Spice Ms. Spice
I would prefer that my vibrators make little to no noise, but if they do, I don't really mind. Noisy things don't bother me (living with my brother can do that), and though I would prefer people not knowing that I'm masturbating, I really don't mind if they hear.

Vibration noise doesn't bother me personally, but I do try to hide it.

I live with my mother-in law - and all my toys MUST be quiet - or she will freak out

How can I listen to berry white if I can't hear it?

It doesn't bother me, but I really don't want other people hearing. o.o
Knowing I masturbate is one thing. Knowing that I'm masturbating right that moment is another. XD

If it can be heard through a door, I don't want it.

Doesn't bother me personally. If I lived with others I'd probably consider it. However, I'd just close my door and muffled the noise with some music.

If the toy is great all around, I don't mind too much if it's a bit loud. But toy noises are distracting and if I can't easily drown it out with my sex music, it's annoying.

I hate noisy vibrators! The last thing I want when I'm playing with my boyfriend is to be distracted by the buzzy sound

Roommates + thin walls + high sex drive + single = I NEED a quiet vibrator.

Most toys don't bother me, noise-wise. I use my Hitachi regularly and have gotten used to it. The Don Wands Treeze is the only toy that has been too loud for me to enjoy.

Excessive noise will bother me but if the toy has fantastic reviews, I may give it a go. I don't need to worry about anyone hearing me. My kids'll sleep through it and my husband either knows what i'm up to or is with me!

Weird noises can be distracting to me, but sometimes I'll put up with it if the toy is otherwise awesome (lookin at you, hitachi) - but how loud a vibe is definitely influences whether I use the toy when housemates are home.

As a rule we don't care about noise that much, only really when people are staying at our house.

I don't really care about the noise, so long as it doesn't sound like a jackhammer.

Right now I still live at home so it is important to me. Once I move out with my fiance hopefully by the end of the year then it will no longer matter to me because it'll just be us!

I am pretty much always around other people when I use them, not in the same room per say but they are in at least the next room, so Sound level is important to me. Plus I find louder ones irritating and the noise is almost headache infusing, which is counter-productive! So I prefer under 3 bees, but generally it just needs to be quiet enough to not be heard through door/blankets.

The type of noise the vibrator makes annoys me more than the loudness.

Noise level isn't my primary concern when choosing a powered toy, but I do prefer that they not be TOO loud. Super noisy toys can be a little distracting to me sometimes, and while I'm not overly concerned about my housemate hearing it, our neighbours have a young daughter, and her bedroom is right on the other side of the wall from my bedroom, so I try to be considerate of that.

That said, a vibe would have to be pretty darn loud to be heard through the wall between our units, and I can manage to block out a fair amount of noise while I'm masturbating/fantasisi ng. Ideally I aim for toys that are rated at 3 bees or lower, but I'm open to louder toys if they have all the features I'm looking for (and a comparable quieter toy isn't available).

I think my loudest toy is probably my Sensualist X (especially when I hit the boost button), which can probably be faintly heard through a closed door, but I feel perfectly comfortable using it with a little background noise like a fan or some music.

I have some that are quiet and some that are not honestly it just depends on whether you're trying to be discreet or not

Likewise. The quieter, the more I can pay attention to my thoughts.
