Before that, I used the showerhead, my fingers, etc. If I'm a parent with a daughter at some point in the future, I will most likely buy her a vibrator when she is 16 or so. I am wondering how many people here have done this or would do this?

I'm not entirely sure, really. I wouldn't mind her having one, but I wouldn't want to make her feel uncomfortable by giving her one. I feel as if most teenagers would be more likely/willing to go out and buy one themselves, in "secret", then having someone give it to them.

I have two daughters and just now realized I have probably been holding my breath for a few minutes too long since reading this question. Right now they are 9 and 5, so I am guessing that this will not be on their Christmas Wish List. If they were 16 or older and ASKED me about one, I would be honored they trusted me enough to come to me about it and would of course help them with shopping for one. I don't think I would ever be so bold as to buy one for them, except as a fun bachelorette gift.

I don't know honestly. If I had a kid and they hit puberty, I'd inform them about sex/sexuality/gender stuff and probably cover sex toys. If they wanted a toy, I'd get them one, but I don't know if I would buy one without talking to them first. I think I'd be happier with making the purchase of toys available to them (like letting them use my card for an online shop), they'd probably be more comfortable too. Depends on our relationship.

No. One, I'd never want children so if I had a daughter something would probably be very wrong, and two, that is definitely in the realm of "crossing the line" to me. It's one thing to promote healthy sexuality and stuff, but that's just a bit much!

I might arrange for another adult to go with her, instead, if there was any potential for embarrassment. Sometimes you don't want your mom there picking out that stuff with you.

I think masturbation and self-discovery is a private thing, and I wouldn't want to intrude on that. But I would be very open and informative about sex with my kids, and I would get my 15 or 16 year old daughter a toy if she asked for one. I know I was masturbating at a young age, and being creative with using substitute vibrators - I wish my mom could have gotten me one so I wouldn't have to use random household things, lol. I don't really see anything wrong with it.

I just had a girl and I'd like to think I would buy her one when time comes. I was the same way when I was young I wish I had one probably around 15. I might do it around say sweet 16 . I hop we have a close enough relationship that we will be able to talk about sex and such.

I don't have any children yet, but if my daughter wanted one and came to me and asked me. I probably would. I would also feel proud that she felt comfortable enough to come to me first and ask. Her father on the other hand might freak out. But I don't have that problem yet. I don't even have a boyfriend
