Serious issue, performance after prostate surgery.

Contributor: Gr8pumpkin Gr8pumpkin
Ok guys, REALLY need help here. I have had some issues related to enlarged prostate and may be facing a surgical intervention. I NEED to know several things. First, to anyone who has had surgery, did you maintain your vigor, and have no erictile problems. Secondly, did the retrograde ejaculation process stop you from producing any ejaculation from your penis, or did it all get diverted to the bladder.

The likely surgery will be TURP or similar, not likely complete removal of the prostate. I still have to undergo a cystoscopy to evaluate the problem, so will have more information then.
Any help or ideas will be very greatly appreciated.

There are a lot of options for shrinking the prostate - short of surgery. If you've tried those and surgery is your only option, all I can say is good luck.

I have erectile and orgasm problems - but have no prostate issues. So some of this is just age-related, but I can't imagine surgery will make things better. Check on-line prostate treatment blogs - guys on there with direct experience relate what happened to them. From most of what I've read - it isn't good.

I dated an anesthesiologist years ago - and she worked on a fair number of TURP cases. She said they were very bloody and wouldn't recommend it - unless you had no other choice.

None of this is encouraging - I'm sorry for that, but IMO honesty is the best policy.

I just got through a " Green Light Laser " procedure, it went well. I had a catheter in for 48 hours, not real comfortable, but once the cath was removed I peed like a racehorse. There was some blood, not much, and it burned like crazy, but at least it helped. My erection is as good as ever. I have not tried sex of any kind yet as it still is too tender. I will update how that goes in a week or so.

Well, 12 days post op, not much has changed. Still VERY tender, burns like the dickens when I pee.
Flow is erratic, some times good, other times like before the procedure. Have not tried sex of any kind yet, still too sensitive. I get some bleeding, even with minor stress, can't lift anything over 10 pounds, or cause abdominal pressure that squeezes the prostate. I keep hoping I will wake up one day pain free and back to normal, but that seems a long way off . My erections are like before, so at least my wife will like that ??.

Have a great Thanksgiving holiday.

At our age, recovery times seem to be longer than we think they should be. It seems that patience will be necessary - best not to reinjure anything.

I'm sure she will be happy to experience your woody - ASAP

Happy Thanksgiving to you as well

Back again, now 3 weeks post op, had the first sexual experience, though not intercourse.
I was extremely randy at bedtime, and convinced m.y wife to perform oral on me, couldn't quite get over the edge, so it morphed into a shared manual session, just me as recipient. It took a while, but I finally orgasmed, what a relief ! Well, the surprise was no semen ejaculated, and the orgasm, though great, was not as intense as before. I just didn't get the throbbing, muscles in my pelvic floor as before, with the many aftershocks. Just a sense of relief, and a relaxation of the whole area.
Maybe it will get better with time, we were being gentle because I am still a bit tender down there.
I will keep you all posted as things progress.

Congrats - the intimate time together is important regardless of the outcomes. Keep on - keeping on...

So, another day or two down the recovery road, tried to talk the lil woman into some cuddle time, JUST for HER pleasure, to compensate for her ministrations before. Well, she wouldn't buy it, figuring I had alterior motives ( well, maybe ) so it didn't happen ( her loss ) .
She went off to do whatever, I stayed in bed relaxing and pondering the missed opportunity.
Not to be shut out, I took care of myself, as best I could and the result was as before, nice orgasm, though not that deep rumble I was used to, and no ejaculation, zip, not a drop...bummer!
After some consideration, I figured I might as well just get used to things as they are, for me, climax wise. I did have a fantasy of once things healed up, I could try strengthening my pelvic floor muscles, maybe that would produce more pressure to bring on some expulsion, but physiology stands against it. The muscle strengthening might enhance the feelings, but it is doubtful any ejaculation will appear.

So I wonder if anybody else here has gone through this scenario, and if their expectations and ultimate results were similar.

Another update on my progress. Finally had intercourse and it went fine. I noted there was still some increased sensitivity , not in a good way though, more like irritation. When I came to my orgasm, the sensations were different than before the procedure. Like before, the contractions were there, but not the deep clenching ones I had prior, and there was an odd burning near the tip,of my penis, I suspect a referred sensation from the ejaculate going upstream rather than down. I still enjoyed it and the relief of the buildup was great. I guess I will need to adapt to the new normal.
Still hoping for input from any others who have gone through this. Will give updates if anything changes. Thanks everyone.

I've not had any surgery - but like you orgasms are rare and very different at my age.

I attribute the post-sex penis/urethra sting to my body fighting off a potential UTI. The stinging happens most when she grinds down on my me in her favorite cowgirl position. I find that drinking plenty of water and voiding frequently resolves the stinging.

I finally had an orgasm tonight - 1st time in about a month, even though we have sex on average 50% of the time. I've just gotten use to it because I've learned that I enjoy the physical intimacy far more than just the potential for orgasm.

Well, prior to the laser procedure, my orgasms were great, even though sometimes hard to achieve.
I wasn't one to ejaculate a lot of semen, just a little, but at least there was some. What I wasn't prepared for was the absolute total loss of semen, and the change in sensation with climax. In my mind, I thought there might be some ejaculate, and the feeling would not change, not so.
I still cling to the thought that as I heal, the sensations will become more normal. Time will tell how it goes. At least i still have great erections and at this age, that's half the battle.
I agree, the act of being together intimately means more than just an orgasm. When we don't get together often, I miss that closeness and bonding we share.
