Strange problem - concerned about left testicle

Contributor: innervated innervated
Sorry if this is the wrong place to ask, but just yesterday I noticed a strange pain in my left testicle when I woke up. It was nothing excruciating and didn't hurt that much; simply put it felt like I just slept on it in a bad position. The pain also went away within a few hours and was completely gone the next day. The odd thing is though, that afterwards my left testicle hung lower than the right, when before they were the same. Should I be concerned about this recent development?

I'd only be concerned if it keeps happening. I think this has come up before on threads...or in my imagination or with my work...or something...

As long as it wasn't like this, I think you'll be ok.

One testicle is supposed to hang lower than the other. You may just have not noticed it before. I would recommend asking a doctor instead of an online forum. That would be the smartest thing to do.

If you have insurance, it'd make sense to get it checked out. Otherwise, it's entirely possible that you did sleep on it (strange as it may seem). It happens.

I doubt that if something was actually wrong that it would have gotten better so quickly. One might be lower than the other because it is slightly swollen, or it might have been like this for a little while and you just had never actually looked to notice it.

does it hang too low?

Does it wobble to and fro?

The testicles are extremely sensitive, and sometimes some as small as sitting down wrong can cause a lasting pain. I am sure that could easily happen in your sleep. If it goes away in a day or so I wouldn't worry about it. If you still have pain after a few days, go have it checked out. Yes, one hanging lower is totally normal.

So now that it has been a few weeks, how are you doing? Are you back to normal?

The testicles are supposed to hang one slightly lower than the other. A sharp pain that goes away i rather common and can simply mean you slept wrong. It could be a muscle that was tight relaxed allowing more proper teticular lengthening which caused the pain and the lower testicle. If the paion persists or swelling and redness with tenderness occurs you should see a doctor.

Interesting fact: avacado is a corruption of the Aztec word for testicle because avacados grow on trees in pairs with one hanging lower than the other!
